Sports / VTTW Message Board / Questions for Tennessee season ticket holders
|
on: October 22, 2012, 11:29:02 EDT

I'll be there for Missouri and Kentucky, but I am not making a 1,000-mile roundtrip to see Troy (like I didn't for Akron). No bowl game for me. Depending on how I feel in the spring, I may reduce my donation level and drop 4 of my 8 season tickets. If it weren't for my kids, and my wife wanting me to keep tickets for when we retire to Watts Bar, I'd drop 6 and maybe get terrace tix because I don't think the tailgating will last much longer.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Hey, since both of our teams suck (we suck worse, btw)...

Who is your favorite SEC team (not counting UT, of course) and why?Probably South Carolina because our family friend is the Equipment Manager. Who is your favorite NCAA D1 (not calling it FBS, or whatever it is) and why?Favorite non-Vols team is Notre Dame becuase my grandfather and father brought us up watching them. Next is probably Oregon, since one of my best friend's has taken me to games there and I love visiting him and his family in Oregon. What non-SEC game (neither opponent is an SEC team) would you like to go to?Since I have already been to an Army/Navy game, I'd like to see Southern Cal vs. Notre Dame (at South Bend). Who was/is your all-time favorite college player?Tough one. I'll stick with Larry Seivers, who I finally got to meet a few years ago at the UTAD tailgate. What are you dressing up as for Halloween this year?Same as last year; nothing. TRObh is apparently dressing up in a skimpy racoon costume.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Attention anyone who wishes to register for the board
|
on: October 16, 2012, 07:43:57 EDT
|
ReVOLver's information still holds true. We have gotten over 750 new registration requests from spammers in just a couple days. If you want to make sure your registration request is timely reviewed, I suggest that you use a username that ties to sports in some way and is obvious, and send me an e-mail at therealorange@yahoo.com. Thanks. If you are a new poster and want to register for the board, please email me directly at [e-mail address deleted] to give me your username after you complete your registration. Unfortunately our forum gets hammered with spam registrations, so I have to manually approve registrations before posters can post. Because we get so many registrations, legit registrations often get lost in the shuffle.
I have just cleared out over 2000 registrations because I didn't have time to go through them all.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your attention.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Alabama vs. Tennessee - TRO Family Tailgate
|
on: October 16, 2012, 06:27:35 EDT
|
While I am not particularly thrilled at the thought of traveling to Knoxville for a 7:00 p.m. game that I fully expect the Vols to lose, we will be having our family tailgate on Saturday. Even though it's a 7:00 p.m. kickoff, we should be set up early -- probably by early morning. Please feel free to join in, especially if you are a visiting bama fan and/or VTTW poster/lurker. Below is a map showing the location. We should be set up right behind the UTAD tailgate area (between their large orange and white canopy and the building) and we are still using the orange canopy covers with the white Power Ts on them (two canopies). Stop in and say hello and share some of the food and drinks. There is no need to bring anything unless you want something in particular or just want to bring something to share. We plan to have the usual -- steak and Italian sausage sandwiches, as well as some hot dogs, and sometimes we throw in a surprise food/dish or two for this game. We will also have cookies and chips/dip. I hope to see some of you there. Go Big Orange, BEAT BAMA!

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Site Transition
|
on: October 15, 2012, 06:17:01 EDT
|
During the site transition, I am working with ReVOLver to reset the admin/moderator access. For a little while, I may be the only admin/moderator unless Bossman wants to stick around for a while longer while we make the exchange. I will make decisions about adding admins later, but I want a while to explore all of my options. In reality, I have not been as "gone" as it may have appeared, and I know that administering the board is not quite as hectic with board rules violations like it was back in the early MudDuck days. So, not as much time will probably be needed for doing admin/moderator work now. Although, with tensions running high about the state of the Vols football program, who knows? I want to thank ReVOLver, droner, and Pirate for all their hard work as admins to date. It certainly is appreciated.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Any more excuses?

In the first half, I said to BTV that none of the Vols' three top coaches -- Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator -- are good enough for the SEC. I like Dooley and wanted very much for him to succeed, but I just don't see it. I hate that another coaching change is on the horizon, but I also don't think there is much choice absent some amazing turnaround in the second half of the season. Great, a probable coaching change during the board transition! My timing is as bad as the Vols defense.

Hi everyone. I have already started contacting some of the people who reached out to Jeff offering to help. I am obviously going to need help moving forward, and I appreciate the offers I have received thus far. To echo the Bossman, this just shows how much the VTTW means to people. You won't be seeing any major changes for the foreseeable future, and perhaps ever. But, there will be changes because we are losing a tech genius in ReVOLver. More about that and other things later, but for now, just keep on keeping on.
