Eric McKnight, transfer from Florida Gulf Coast. He graduated and is eligible immediately. He's 6'9" and athletic, and we desperately needed a post. This is basically a zero-risk pickup since he only has 1 year.

Get Tariq Owens, a serviceable pg and we'll be decent next year, while DK and staff get their feet under them. Any word on Mostella & the clearinghouse?

And one more: Devon Baulkman, a JUCO guard. averaged 15.5, 4.9, and 2.4 last season. He was one of Tyndall's commits at USM. Two years of eligibility.

So, will Willie Carmichael fall Donnie Knoxville's way today?

Apparently McKnight has some significant baggage, but at this point UT probably needs to take a chance on him and tell him he has a very short leash.

I think yes on Carmichael. As for McKnight's baggage, yep . . . a chance we needed to take and he'll only be here a year anyway. Not too much risk there, really.

It may not be an "all world" roster, but that's what coaches get paid to do... coach em up. I was worried we'd only have a partial roster. Not so! How many more can we take?

Ian Chiles has committed.

This is a quality pickup. Quality PG, lots of experience, has done well against very good competition. He'll be a senior and play only one year, but he will be a good guy for this upcoming transition year to dish out the ball. He's a PG that can score.

Goodness. We badly needed a PG, so hopefully Chiles can fill that role nicely.

As for spots left . . . I read earlier today that McKnight, when he joins the team, would make 11 and Chiles would make 12 . . . but I only come up with 11:

Hubbs
Richardson
Moore
Reese
NDiaye
Punter
McGhee
Mostella
Baulkman
McKnight
Chiles

That leaves 2 schollies still open by my count. Maybe he'll hold one for Thompson until he makes it official elsewhere . . . and I'm guessing we'd like 12 and 13 to be post players or possibly another PG if a quality one is out there.

I don't see Thompson coming back now that Chiles is on board.

Me either. Perhaps Carmichael and Owens.

The more I think about it, the more stunning this is. We lost 8 guys-- 12 if you were include Cuonzo's 4 commits-- and Tyndall has already picked up 6 guys to take their spots in just about 3 weeks on the job and well after signing day. I've never seen anything like it.

This team will be almost completely unfamiliar when they roll it out next Fall. This is a good thing IMO.

The proof is in the pudding, but I can't see how anyone can complain about Tyndall's effort so far.  Nice work.

Supposedly Tyndall said today on Nashville radio that he expected two more this week (Baulkman, Chiles), and two more next week. Presumably Owens, and Carmichael. If Carmichael does commit tonight then maybe another? At any rate, looks like we'll have 13 schollie players. Good news!

well, I think Chievous is still "officially" there but you can probably count him out. Not sure Pops will stick around either.

I'd say even after Carmichael we get 2 more. Rob Lewis indicated we could go after the G Tech transfer Robert Carter, and we could also get Owens

Tariq Owens committed today. Nice get IMO. Was a 4* but dropped to a 3* after  his release from Ohio. Would love a true pg, but doesn't appear in the cards. At the least, we'll have a serviceable roster to build on. GBO!

I think Tyndal will do okay. I just want him to have a fair chance. He seems capable.
