A tidbit from Chris Low today, which I wasn't aware of:

Quote
It’s also telling that while Ferguson went home to Charlotte, North Carolina, after the semester ended earlier this month that Dobbs and Worley were both out in California working with quarterback guru George Whitfield.

In the same article, Low becomes the first sports writer to suggest that Jones' future might depend on how well he recruits a QB this fall/winter. I don't think I would go THAT far, but obviously this is a huge point of need at this point.

I would go that far. Football is a qb driven game. You are only as good as your qb. The Vols have some offensive weapons on board now. I just don't see any of the qb's on the roster as being SECC caliber. Unless the Vols suddenly develope a dominating Seahawks like defense, where the qb will not be required to carry the team, then the recruiting of a qb is crucial. Maybe A JUCO guy will work. Hopefully one of the current crop of qb's we have has improved drastically and we will pleasantly surprised. Hopefully one of the three will suddenly "have the light come on".

I won't disagree with any of that, but I also think that Butch Jones has done a good enough job on and off the field thus far that fans aren't going to start clamoring for his departure if UT isn't a title contender in 2015 due to a lack of QB.

I think Low is overstating things to say that we should be a title contender in 2015.  I expect a big step forward next year, for sure.  Probably an 8-10 win season.  But I don't expect to start contending for titles until 2016.
