In a photo that appeared in Sunday’s News Sentinel, Jones and Taylor are seen pointing at each other on the field at Neyland Stadium following UT’s win over Arkansas State on Saturday. Jones appears to be scowling in the photo, but the exchange was a friendly one, he said.
“It’s amazing, I look at him and say, ‘you guys got a really good football team’ and everybody blows it out of proportion,” said Jones, who said the hand gesture was simply used to make the point. “He was very complimentary of what’s going on here with everything, so it was good to hear from somebody who has coached here before that we’re getting it back.”
The "Trooper Taylor is a friend" part is disappointing, but Butch is also good friends with Erik Spoelstra, so I guess the takeaway here is that our HBC will befriend pretty much any unsavory character that comes along.
