Title: 7.1.15
Post by: Creek Walker on June 23, 2015, 07:46:27 EDT
After back-to-back Top 5 recruiting classes, our first class under the Nike brand is currently ranked No. 20 according to Rivals.com.

Someone needs to let these recruits know that they're supposed to be knocking down the door to come to Tennessee now that we're a Nike school.

But hey, at least we have a "unified brand". :frown:

In all seriousness, I wouldn't put it past Butch (or Nike) to have a few silent commits waiting in the wings that they're putting off until 7/1.

Hopefully they have a lot more than they are showing. Gotta have top 5 classes every year to compete with the big boys. Will be nice to have 2-3 deep at every position with talent. Looking back, man do you realize how stacked some of those late '90's teams were? Some of those teams look like an NFL roster.

No, no you don't.  Over the past five recruiting cycles, only one team has been in the top 5 every year.  I'll give you three guesses who that is, and the first two don't count.  Hooray for roster management.

We probably only have about 20 schollys (at most) to give this year, so even if we get every target on our board, we're not likely to end up in the top 5.  The quantity isn't going to be like the past two years, but I'm sure we'll all be satisfied with the quality when all is said and done.

that just means we can be more selective.  Hopefully the average star rating is up and we address needs.
