and also emphasized the Vols' plan to play two quarterbacks --- and not because Jones anticipates any quarterback struggles or injuries but merely to further evolve the roster.

Interesting

A radical departure from Fulmer's final years.  He would almost never give backup QBs PT.  Early on he did.  I wonder if Peyton didn't kill that all by himself. That boy never wanted to come out.

I think the real reason for this is that Jones knows there is a significant chance Dobbs will get hurt based on his style of play.

Some people's negativity amaze me! Our fun base just can't be happy with anything. When did we become so jaded and why can't we just enjoy things without all the negativity?

There are quite a few negative folks in our fanbase.  I'm not seeing any on this thread?

I don't see that as negative, just reality.  When is the last time our day one starting QB made it through the entire season unscathed?  I can't even remember, it's been so long.  If Dobbs stays healthy, then great.  But if not, at least QD will be somewhat prepared.

And I can also name you several running qb's that have made it through the year healthy. All I am saying is why our fans have to always be negative? Why not just say, great, the second string will be ready if he is needed? Why do our fans have to say the odds are significantly high that dobb's will be hurt this season??

Not trying to be negative.  I just think it is great & proactive to get another guy ready.  I'm not saying the chances of injury are high, just higher.  How many games did Dobbs single handedly win last year?  A lot of 'em.  He carried the ball a ton and he slashed thru lots of traffic in the process.  He has a great ability to avoid the big hit, but that style of play just carries a little more risk.  I really like the idea of sharing the burden a little bit.  You can't play the game in a way not to get hurt, but you can play smart.

Every time he carries the ball, I hold my breath. Not trying to be negative at all, but as BDV says it's to get through the season with his (Dobbs) style of qbing in one piece
