Title: Game Thread: Bama
Post by: murfvol on October 20, 2019, 12:57:23 EDT
I'm probably not staying up for the entirety. Let's stay healthy.

In order of preference:

1.Win and stay healthy
2.Keep it close and stay healthy
3. Stay healthy

They picked up the flag on the late hit/cheap shot/roughing the passer????  What the fizzle?  It was clearly late and he shoved Mauer to the ground.  This is BULLshizzle

And of course they blow the whistle for absolutely no reason as soon as we catch them off guard with the wildcat.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist as a general rule but when that crap happens over and over and over in favor of one program...yeah.

Two plays later, three -- count 'em, THREE -- penalties called on one play.  :frown:

Homer cooking.. Play clock never started as soon as we go wildcat and the refs stop the play..At least we get 3 points..ugh

Nine (NINE!) accepted penalties on UT now. And we’re not even halfway through the 2nd quarter.

As if bammer needs the help. :bird:

If I'm Chaney,my adjustment for the 2nd half if Tua can't go is run the damn ball to the edge like they did against BYU and mix in some play action deep throws. JG is still f'd up but I like our chances against their backup qb if we don't turn it over and can maybe catch a break.. Go Vols!! :powert: :powert: :powert:

Does anyone else agree that coaching has been pretty good so far tonight?

Take away the penalties and Mauer getting knocked out.. We are neck and neck with them.

We are getting better.

If Maurer hadn't gone out I think we would have a chance. Bama's backup QB doesn't look that hot. Of course, as soon as I say that he will have a record setting half and pummel us.

But we are playing hard. Bama's going to know that they were in a game. We just need more talent.

We lost Bituli but we get Tou Tou back in the 2nd half. Defense is playing great, need to wrap up though.. Time to tee off on their backup, bring the house every play

Pruitt’s leaving no secrets in the playbook tonight. And frankly, that should be his philosophy for the rest of the season.

Yes, I fully expect them to pull away in the 3rd.

But, we at least look like an SEC team for yet another week.

He didn't have to give that extra shove.  Weak call, no doubt, but senior leader has to know the setting and not give them any reason to throw the flag.

I love to gripe about referees but let's face it...they seldom dictate the outcome of a game.

Tonight they're dictating the outcome. The only people who can disagree with a straight face are Alabama fans.

I haven't seen a screw job like this in a long time.

Total home hosing.. The SEC has too much money at risk, refs are paid.. Still plenty of time if the Vols can wake the Fk up and do this! This game has been served up on a silver platter with Tua out.. Go take this $hit from them damn it!!

I expect these announcers to hold a candlelight vigil for Tua any time now. Meanwhile, the fact that our qb was ALSO knocked out of the game (on a cheap shot, no less) is barely an afterthought.

I hope not. I can take mistakes being made when things just go wrong, however when a selfish act leads to tragedy like we just witnessed, fire them and get them off the team. It was obvious that Pruitt wasn't to blame for that fiasco.

We actually played a respectable game up to that point.

In real time, I cringed when Taylor put his hands on the QB and pushed him getting up. Then i saw the flag. I immediately left for the toilet to piss, as I was pissed at DT. Later after a friend and I were debating the call and he sent me a replay I was less angry with DT. I wish he had just gotten up on his own, but I now feel the penalty was not warranted. I still think that he was stupid for giving the refs the opportunity to call it, but in the heat of the moment I guess I'll cut him a break. That penalty would never have been called on a Bama defender, imo.  If he just gets up on his own, though, what might have transpired?

Great effort by the team. I will not berate them, with one exception. I have some hope for the future again, at least.
