Probably smart thinking on their part. In East Tennessee, these sorts of things are no-win situations for newspapers. I've discussed with our staff what we're going to do when we receive our first same-sex engagement notice for publication. It isn't a question of "if" but "when." If we decline to run it, we're going to be subject to a lawsuit that we can't win. If we run it, we're going to face a monumental backlash from our readers. Darned if you do, darned if you don't.
