Surely there is a way to determine sooner than 4 hours before kickoff that this is going to be the outcome.

This is really sad for folks that traveled to watch the game. I'm sure that the teams will be compensated (at least to some extent).  Fans, however, are simply going to lose their travel expenses even though they will no doubt be refunded their ticket cost.

Given what we’ve seen thus far, the law of averages says that one or more of the major bowls and/or playoff games should be impacted later this week. And yet I’ll bet they magically all get played.
