From what I've heard, both sets of fans got along very well.  Nebraska fans lived up to their reputation. The only fight in the stands I've heard about was Vol on Vol violence.

There was a Vol "gentleman" near us, unfortunately,  who apparently couldn't fasten his belt (maybe a plumber?). The ushers actually came up (I was on literally the top  row) at the end of the first quarter and told him to quit cussing or they would escort him out. There were many small children nearby. But near the end of the third quarter every other word was again an fbomb.  No one went and got the usher again so he stayed.

Now for the punchline...in the middle of the 4th he looked at his friend after a run play went for 3 yards, and said "that's fizzleing Mike Debord for you."

Oh. So THAT'S what a negavol looks like. Drunk and LITERALLY showing his arse. I was wondering.

It may have just been my section but I've never seen poorer behaved fans at a UT football game (all Vols fans, btw).

Bowl games tend to attract more of that element.  You get a lot of the fans who don't have season tickets and many who never go to the games in Knoxville.  And it was probably amplified by the fact that this one was an easy day trip for pretty much the entire state.

I think it had more to do with the fact that you can legally buy alcohol in Nissian Stadium, where as you have to sneak it in to Neyland.

UT's bowl allotment sold out very quickly, which means that the UT season ticket holders bought them up.  And with the price of tickets, I don't think there were many "casual" fans there unless they were locals whose employer bought large blocks of tickets.

I went to the Dooley MCB as I was living in Nashville then, and a buddy noted he thought the liquored up quotient was much higher than in his section at Neyland. We wondered if it is solely attributable to alcohol being readily available or something else.

I was in the nosebleeds for that MCB and I can attest, witnessed:

UNC fan walking up steps, looking back every few steps watching the game. UNC scores, he celebrates.  TN fan takes offense and throws beer right in dudes face.  Brawl ensues.

Even with the booze that gets snuck in to Neyland, things seem more chill because most seem to halfway try to hide their illegal booze.

Perhaps the passion and emotion of CFB is just a bad mix with alcohol in general.

I've been in sports venues where alcohol is consumed, but never a college football game until Friday's MCB. I left thinking that it would be a very bad idea for alcohol to ever be sold in Neyland (there's a move afoot to do just that).

Other than the three females behind us constantly asking what the score was (scoreboard directly across from us ... ) an uneventful MCB Friday evening.  Nice sitting closeer to the field, hearing pads pos and seeing two VOL TDs up close and personal was  pretty cool, as was the weather
(Expensive) Alcohol was being consumed all around us.

Other than the aforementioned "gentlemen" everyone was well behaved.  There were at least a half dozen families with small or school age children nearby.  Really only the one ass.

But I am sure alcohol being sold is the major reason behavior is worse.  I considered getting a beer, but it was too dam cold.
