. Kay's Ice Cream with the big ice cream cone outside was a S Knoxville icon, and had been since the 50s I think, when I moved to Knoxville in 1982. Kay's closed (sadly) during the pandemic, but the ice cream cone is still there, and there is a Thai restaurant where Kay's used to be, but it does serve ice cream of some sort. So who won between the Louis brothers, or did they both go out of bidness? So there is still a Louis' restaurant -- and honestly, I don't know which brother it was! LOL They are both gone now, but 1 of my brothers and my son ALWAYS go to Louis' for spaghetti anytime they are in Knoxville....not only was I raised going there, so were my children until we moved to GA!

Well if you grew up in North Knoxville --- you knew where the original Louis' Pizza Restaurant was! And I remember when the brothers had a fight and 1 opened a 2nd Louis' restaurant next door to the original. And in Lonsdale, where my grandparents lived until retirement, there was a small restaurant where we went to Sunday dinner (Heath's I believe was the name) after church at Euclid Ave. Baptist Church! Lordy the memories when I was little with my granny and grandpa in that area! Sometimes when I'm in Knoxville visiting now, I still go by their old house. Oh, and I used to watch the Cas Walker show in the early mornings just to hear Ms. Dolly Parton sing -- I loved hearing her then and now. PLUS, we used to vacation every summer in Pitman Center (where she was raised) -- and walk to the Parton store for ice cream!

Mom went through what sounds like the same regimen. She also had the same issues with the length of the med. However, after around 25 years she's still kicking!
Good to hear! I'm doing great -- but every year at scan time, there is some anxiety. Luckily, in my small hospital here, they tell me the results of the mammogram before I leave there, so I don't have wait like most folks!

Thanks! Scan was clear, and now I don't have to go back for a whole year. Was getting scanned every 3-4 months.
So glad your scan was clear. My latest mammogram was also clear -- 4 years since diagnosis -- 3 years since end of treatment (well, still on 1 med for 10 years, but active treatment done for 3). I'm hoping I can get off this 1 med in 5 years, but for some reason my oncologist said I'd have to take it 10 years. Bummer! Congrats to you1

I've been busy with life -- working part time and getting my health and fitness back in line since cancer recovery. I have a nice UT hooded jacket that I'd like to give to someone that wants it -- it's a size XXL -- I don't plan to ever be able to wear it again! :) Not sure the link works for the picture -- hope so. If not, it's gray, with orange TENNESSEE across the front with the hoodie lined in orange. Anyway, if anyone is interested, message me your address and I'll send to you!

Gus graduated from Rule High School around the same time as my Dad and Mom. He might have been a year ahead of Dad -- he was friends with much of my family, especially my uncle Joe Caldwell. A good man who was admired by all.

......the last time being when Bama lined up for that FG at the end. It would have been the usual for us to lose a great, close game on that FG. Even when he missed it I "knew" that there wasn't enough time for us to win and that Bama would win in OT. But the fact we won that kind of game against that kind of opponent means this: Things are changing. I was just the opposite -- I told my hubs when they missed that FG, we've got 15 seconds on the clock and 2 timeouts -- we can win this without OT!!

Hope you enjoy retirement and drink plenty of that fine wine! Congrats droner!
As for SS, I took it when I retired at 62.5 but I wasn't working...I'd rather live on SS than using my IRA for now. After 5 years, I got bored and started back working 18 hours a week and loving it! After a year long battle with breast cancer and surviving that, I decided sitting around at home was boring and it was time do something for me -- so I'm working with an OT as her personal assistant and meeting so many great people! Funny how life is --

I will be leaving the office at 11:30 today as usual on Friday. I will be resting today in preparation for my birthday dinner tomorrow night. I won't say my age but I was born in 1952.
Thank you. That is all. Carry on.
Happy Birthday!! You aren't that old - got me by 2 years! Hope your birthday celebration is wonderful -- I KNOW it's going to be filled with wonderful wine!

This is ridiculous. We made it through an entire season with Delta, which we were led to believe was the deadliest thing since Ebola. Now a new variant comes along that is less severe than the common cold (I know, I had it), and we’re shutting everything down. fizzleing clown world. For some people it may not be like a cold --- remember that -- just because you had a mild case, your neighbor may die from it. Sorry but I'm sick and tired of folks making light of a virus that has already killed over 800K people -- some young and healthy just like you. If this variant is less deadly -- that will be a f'ing blessing.

WOW!! My whole life growing up, Mom and I sat in section S -- about 30 rows up. I grew up watching the Vols, Tennessee Walking Horse and of course, at age 5, the cheerleaders were #1 on my list! LOL! So glad they are finally upgrading -- how many seats will be lost with this renovation?

It started on ESPNU because VA game ran long... switched to ESPN2 and stayed there the remainder of the game as originally scheduled.
