When you looked at a guy like Trent Richardson and he was just yoked with muscles and our LBs looked like normal guys, you suspected we might have some issues.
However one of the things I notice from pics I've been seeing is that our guys are really in shape and are starting to pass the eye test. Does that mean it will translate to wins? Jacques Smith. :wtf: Jacques has always been muscled up... he's one of those "show me" guys for me. Herm Lathers isn't in the pics (I don't think) but that's a guy who looks completely different. Just sayin'. :dance: ReVOLver is right . . . much better to have guys that look the part than guys that don't. Odds are, some of them will play like they look. I just hope it's enough of them. I hope I'm not building him up in my head to something he can't live up to, but I think Lathers may be one of the most important players on this team. He seems to have real character and leadership qualities, and it sounds like the younger guys listen to him. That, and he would have been our best LB last year. Adding him to the two frosh with a year under their belts should make for a pretty strong middle for the defense. How Jacques handles the jack spot remains to be seen. One of the reasons why we made a bowl game 2 years ago was Nick Reveiz. I'm hoping Lathers can at least provide that sort of leadership. Hey, I loved Brian Williams. My favorite player on that team. I was just pointing out that his added bulk didn't really do much for his strength and coordination. |
