Title: General Observations
Post by: PirateVOL on September 01, 2014, 04:10:45 EDT
Not only did they add the wall between Lot 9 and Phillip Fulmer they added green islands in Lot 9 and also added walkways between Lot 9 and Lot 9A.  The wall looks nice and is an upgrade but it makes it far more difficult to get to the stdium from the Lot 9 area.

The ribbon scoreboards locked up during the National Anthem and the main scoreboard gave up providing game information (score, down and distance, etc) before halftime I think.

Two nice tributes to Bobby Denton.  One, which I think will be a standard is a recording him saying It is football time in Tennessee.  The other was the the UT Medical Center tribute to him in their This is Tennessee segment (after which we hear "pay these prices and please pay NO MORE!"  BTW, I liked the new stadium announcer.  Clear and a good handle on the game.

The entire music between plays needs a lot of work IMO.  Poor timing prevailed.

As has been noted the drum line as part of warmups was a big hit.  It was really cool IMO.  Even though it was raining and the crowd was smaller than normal at the time the crowd noise was substantial. and the team seemed to really enjoy it as well.  Totally new cadence as well.

On a related note, the Pride pregame was the same.  I'd like to see more originality in the halftime show (last night was the jazz show, with minimal formations/marching).
