76  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I don't know what it's like outside in your part of the world, but... on: November 15, 2016, 07:32:18 EST
It seems to me that we could be seeing shifts in global climate patterns.
77  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: As much as that loss sucked, this team was dominating aTm. It is amazing on: October 12, 2016, 12:06:32 EDT
Our defensive breakdowns, while disturbing, are understandable given the injuries going in and extending through the game.  What the offense did (save for dropping the ball regularly) to a vaunted Chavis defense, was jaw-dropping in light early season performance.
78  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Sounding like the croc-corndog game will get moved to Baton Rouge* on: October 08, 2016, 12:03:57 EDT
In reality, Florida's handling of this deserves a forfeit. But there's no way the SEC will force them to forfeit, and the Gators will get credit for trying to reschedule on Nov. 19.

That's my feeling as well.  Florida is responsible for hosting the game.  LSU offered to host it for them, given the circumstances.  Florida understandably declined, but that doesn't relieve them of responsibility for hosting.  Find a solution, or forfeit.
79  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Well damn. Looks like we're going to have to give back the UGA win... on: October 05, 2016, 12:54:14 EDT
...Josh didn't get the pass off on time.

Well, he's right actually...oh wait, this was a FOOTBALL game - all this time I was thinking they were playing basketball!
80  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Let's talk about the stakes in these next three games on: September 30, 2016, 04:24:15 EDT
Beat GA and we're in the driver's seat in our division.  Stumble and we're not.  Let's talk about Tamu and Bama on Monday.
81  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: What are your theories on the Vols slow starts in games this season? I know it's on: September 28, 2016, 06:44:14 EDT
For starters, Shoop seems to be blindingly good at adjusting to stop whatever he's facing.  Perhaps he's experimenting a bit at the start to see what's needed?  Hard to say what the problem is on O.
82  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Has anyone ever felt this much uncertainty about a 3-0 team? on: September 19, 2016, 06:47:19 EDT
I don't see it
Even with DelRio their offense sucked.  Without it I'm not sure they can score more than 10 against the defense

I'm not sure their offense needs to score.  Their defense may put up one or two scores off turnovers, and I don't have a lot of confidence in our offense putting up much at all.
83  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Butch says Kirkland has a high ankle sprain... on: September 12, 2016, 10:55:06 EDT
Dang shame - Kirkland sure seems like a great kid, a fast learner and a real talent.  Hopefully Shoop can take charge of defensive personnel.  Anyone hear anything on MacKenzie?  He limped off...
84  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Dobbs doubtful this weekend? on: September 06, 2016, 01:49:59 EDT
Yeah.  I'm still worried that he'll be a surprise scratch on Saturday.  I'm even more worried that he'll play when he shouldn't.

^This.  With healthy ribs, he's not that accurate and a bit loose with the football.  In my experience, really banged up ribs don't help with that.
85  Sports / VTTW Message Board / How's Dobbs? on: September 02, 2016, 03:32:34 EDT
He got drilled on the fumble, and looks pretty dazed on the sidelines.  I don't know about him, but my ribs would be a jigsaw puzzle after a hit like that.
86  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Just curious. What do you perceive to be the Vols of 2016 biggest weakness? on: August 15, 2016, 10:36:16 EDT
From an outsiders POV, and I hope I don't get virtually kicked in the groin for this one, I see it as coaching. The talent is there, the experience is there and UT just seems to be ready for the next level. I think the main thing that could hold  y'all back this year is coaching. I like Butch, I really do. But some of his decision making last year was questionable. I think he learns from that and applies it this year. I seriously think you guys don't lose more than 2 games this year and have a more than 50/50 shot at going undefeated.  On paper, you guys should coast into the ATL this year for the SECCG. It'll be up to coaches and team leadership (which I think you guys have) to keep focused through the year.

Good point.  I'm optimistic that we have the on-the-field leadership to overcome corncobs in inappropriate places on the sideline, but we'll see.
87  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Who has entered the realm of backyard football theaters? on: August 08, 2016, 03:30:14 EDT
I think a big problem was the lighting.  Projectors generally require very low light, and most of our night games start and play at least the first half before sundown up until the time change late in the season.  But if you have a very shady spot, you can probably make it work.

What BDV said.  Like VolVeeta, I have an indoor projector onto a 90 in screen in a mancave.  It's freakin' awesome, but ANY stray light distracts and washes out color and detail.  Easy enough to control in a basement, but you need be sure you have a very dark location to make it work outside.
88  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Welcome to Knoxvegas CJ Lewis on: July 26, 2016, 04:39:10 EDT
Hmm.  I know Dobbs isn't the greatest passer in the world, but...

Before I start favorably comparing a relative unknown recruit from the football hotbed of Connecticut to a four year starter in the SEC, who's being mentioned as a darkhorse Heisman contender this year, I'm going to need to see it with my own eyes.

You are such as skeptic, BDV.    Here, have some kool-aid

Just more good bulletin board material, my friend!
90  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Vols didn't make Fox sports Top10 DL's for the upcoming season. on: July 05, 2016, 10:57:57 EDT
6th best in the SEC (or worse)? That's the kind of bulletin board material I like to see!!
91  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: U. A. and Nick Saban comments on Pat Summitt... on: June 29, 2016, 06:01:09 EDT
C'mon BG - we're trying to hate the guy here!  Guess there's plenty of time between now and October...

Well done, my Volunteer friend - you weren't the only one fighting back tears!
93  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I'm a beer drinker. But occasionally, I lose my taste for beer. on: May 17, 2016, 12:50:29 EDT
You ever see a car driving through Tennessee with a Roll Tide sticker in the window?

I give you llamas in the desert.

Just to geek it out (or beat the piss out of a dead camel), from Wikipedia:

"Camel" is also used more broadly to describe any of the six camel-like mammals in the family Camelidae: the two true camels and the four New World camelids: the llama, alpaca, guanaco, and vicuña of South America.

So there you have it - a llama IS, in fact, a camel.  My guess is their urines taste quite similar, but again, I'll defer to Bandit's expertise.

94  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I'm a beer drinker. But occasionally, I lose my taste for beer. on: May 16, 2016, 10:38:34 EDT
I cannot comment on horse piss. But I was once lost in the desert and forced to resort to drinking llama urine, and it tasted remarkably like beer.

Hmmm...llamas are native to the Andes mountains - they don't do so well in the desert.  Are you sure you weren't drinking camel urine?  Were there subtle notes of date and falafel?  I'm sure Bandit can elaborate on the subtle differences.

95  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I'm a beer drinker. But occasionally, I lose my taste for beer. on: May 14, 2016, 07:50:55 EDT
Well, I've never had llama urine, so I'll have to take your word for it.  Is it hoppy, like an IPA, or more refreshing, like a pilsener?
96  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: NV, but still important; Summer/Fall vacations on: May 09, 2016, 08:19:46 EDT
I'll be taking a week to float down the San Juan river in the 4 Corners area with friends and family over Memorial Day.  Hope to get up in the Colorado high country for a 4-5 day backpacking trip as well.

While you're in Maine, rent a bicycle in Acadia NP and tootle around the carriage roads.  Flat, easy riding through the Maine forests with no cars!
97  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I don't know how you folks feel about things, but on: May 04, 2016, 04:11:55 EDT
1. Defense wins championships
2. Offense is similar to '98 - mobile QB, strong running game, questionable passing but with significant threats
3. Defense wins championships
4. Serious threats in special teams
5. Did I mention the defense?
98  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: "If you ain't passing, move over" bill passes the House. on: March 09, 2016, 08:45:34 EST
I'm all for it.

But like I said before, I am always passing, so....

Yea.  Passing the time.
99  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Who ya got Bronco's or Patriots? I would love to see Peyton win two more games on: January 19, 2016, 11:35:56 EST
Love to see m'Donkeyz get it done, but the Pats are looking healthy and strong. Never know how the football might bounce, tho...

That is big!  One more year of combined pick-6/kick-6 competition between him and Berry!
