in Lexington. To be honest I don't think this team would represent the SEC too well in a bowl game and I'm glad we're not going. I'm a little tired of getting embarrassed by middle of the pack or lower level ACC schools.

Needed the extra practices. Badly, IMO.

Not impressed with this coaching staff after this game..a fake field goal on 4th and forever? Vandy had lost all defensive backs and UT tried no deep passes or passes down the field..After having a week off..I saw no real preparation for this game or adjustments in the 2nd half

We can't question the staff.

The only adjustments in the off week that would have helped is if we could have brought in the next couple of recruiting classes.

It's going to be a long slog back to respectability. This is the situation we find ourselves in as a result of the coaching faliures of the last few years.

Why are you trying to create conflict where, as of now, there is none?  Self-fulfilling prophecy?

Well the game that I saw in the 2nd half, Vandy was without 3 of their starting db's most of the game and lost the 4th late in the 2nd half..I saw no over the middle passes or deep passes or any passes to the tight end..Talent was not the issue..Dobbs has a hell of an arm but the the only thing that stopped it was UT's play calling..Sideline passes at the line of scrimmage are no better than running the ball with our poor receiver blocking

Yep.  A lower tier bowl game isn't about the game.  It's about that extra practice time for the underclassmen.

As for the game, everybody sucked:  The players, the coaches, the fans, the cheerleaders - everybody.  This season has simply been about survival.

Ditto. I dont think this staff is to blame and i stand by my opinion that it is ignorant to blame this coaching staff for where we are and how things have turned out this year.   I am for Coach Butch Jones and believe that he and this staff are right for Tennessee.

Well, I guess I will just have to beg to differ. Talent is everything. The fact that Vandy loses their entire defensive secondary and we can't take advantage of it says it all. After two interceptions, I expect that the coaches were hesitant to let him throw anything other than safe passs. And poor blocking by our WRs may indicate that they just aren't that good.

Think about this. If there was free agency in college football, what UT players would anyone sign? North? Maybe, the jury is still out. Anyone on our offensive line? Maybe, although I think their hype has gone unfulfilled. After that, who?

There's a reason two UT coaches lost their jobs. On top of that, we had the Kiffin mess. This is the least amount of talent, especially in the big playmaker department, that I have seen in 45 years of being a Vol fan.

I agree. I'm not disappointed in the coaching this year at all. I see a marked improvement in execution on both sides of the ball. Not saying it was great but long strides from where Dooley had them. Much less confusion IMO. Extra practices would be nice for the young guys but I couldn't stand the thought of losing to Duke or GA Tech or whoever we would have wound up playing.

I would rather have our staff busy locking up a top 5 recruiting class than spend time coaching  a liberty bowl game. Jmo

Blaming the past coaches and the mess that was left is just that the past..Yeah Dobbs had 2 int's so you stop throwing because of it? We all know the talent level isn't where it needs but throwing laterally with piss poor receiver blocking isn't the answer

To be totally honest, the way I feel right now I couldn't care less what happens vs. UK.  I'm ready for this dreadful season to be over.

Agree 100%.  I am just so sick and tired of having another losing football season...4 in a row.  I will not watch the UK game, at this point I just don't give a DAMN if they win or lose it.    No one on the offensive side of the ball played with any desire, passion, or fire...was sad to see IMHO.

i would say that Neal played hard and with passion.

I care if we win the game, but not enough to drive all the way up from bubbaville to freeze my hind end off in the cold assed stadium
I've made three long trips this year to watch us get blown out all three times.

Maybe Neal, and Lane......been the last 2 times we have played in Lexington, those are the 2 coldest football games I have ever sat through.  I'm done with this season.  I have never said and felt this way about Tennessee Football before.
