1)Kirkland and Martin continue to impress.
2) Dobbs was pretty accurate.
3) Pearson may not accumulate YACs, but he makes key grabs on throws that aren't great.
4) Malone!

3) Pearson may not accumulate YACs, but he makes key grabs on throws that aren't great.
4) Malone!
Dobbs seemed more accurate directionally but seemed to throw the ball HIGH a lot (led to the pick). |

I think it's time to accept that Dobbs is never going to be one of these super-accurate, 70% completion rate guys. But as long as he can hit some timely passes, mix in some plays with his feet, and hold on to the ball (to me, that's his biggest problem right now), he'll win a lot of games for us next year.
I want to see him work on pocket awareness and ball security more than anything else this summer.

Yep! I will always be nervous in must pass situations, because protection, accuracy, and ball security are not our wheelhouse. I think it's time to accept that Dobbs is never going to be one of these super-accurate, 70% completion rate guys. But as long as he can hit some timely passes, mix in some plays with his feet, and hold on to the ball (to me, that's his biggest problem right now), he'll win a lot of games for us next year.

Dobbs' deep ball to Malone was a thing of beauty. If he could develop a little consistency in that part of his game, he could be a legit Heisman contender next season.
Unfortunately, the other side of Dobbs last night was the consistent overthrows to open receivers, and his terrible pocket presence. Given that he's a junior, that probably isn't going to change.
I like the progression our receivers are showing right now.

IMHO, last night was as accurate as Dobbs can get. Accuracy is a feel thing, one either has or does not. I agree Dobbs is more accurate when moving. Perhaps hr doesn't think then. Prior to his throw to Malone, he did a phenomenal job moving in the pocket.

I think it's a practice/muscle memory thing, and also to a lesser extent chemistry with WRs. Peyton famously had "volunteer" practice sessions with his WRs in the summer. Dobbs for academic reasons probably doesn't have that kind of time. It's something I think he could work on and improve. |
