Down 6-3 to Boston in the bottom of the 9th, the Braves scored 3 to tie it. With the bases loaded and 2 outs, some dude named Conley who definitely won’t make the opening day roster works a full count. Now the new pitch clock not only penalizes a pitcher- it also states that the batter has to be “in the box with his attention toward the mound” at the 8 second mark. Except in this case, the Sox catcher was up on his feet talking to the pitcher at 8 seconds, so Conley also wasn’t in his stance. No matter- it was called an automatic strike and the game ended in a tie.

I’m glad they had this teaching moment in Spring Training. I would’ve been pissed if it was a real game.
