They just recorded an easy nonchalant win over a tournament team at home.  They have a win over UK, and that blowout of Georgia Tech is looking better every day.  The only definite loss I see left on the schedule is at UK.  And they'll probably lose at SC. Could they win the rest and make the tournament?

Our RPI just went to 39 after today and our SOS is top 10.....Depends on the rest of the season but I'd say due to 3-4 close loses to some good teams we are outside looking in as of right now.

As of now, for sure.  But if we lose no more than 2 down the stretch, and then win a game or two in the SECT, it's possible, given our SOS.  And if it happens, Barnes should be the SEC COY, hands down.

I'd bet that our SOS is top three at the moment.

I think that we could potentially make the dance with 3 more regular season losses, assuming we could win two or three games in the SEC tourney.

If UT could finish out 8-2 over the last ten games and win one or two (hopefully more) in the SEC tourney, it would most likely be criminal to keep them out.

Lose more than 3 of the remaining ten and I think the odds drop dramatically.

I don't read the basketball forums, so I'm in the dark on this...but there are those folks out there?

I think Barnes has done a terrific job. I'm not enamored with his recruiting but I'm going to assume that will come with results. He inherited a pretty bad situation.

I read Basilio. He and his bloggers consistently complain that Barnes isn't doing well in recruiting. Their feeling is that he might not be really putting his all into it and is more of a caretaker just trying to get by.

I don't know enough about BB recruiting to express an opinion. But I don't think there has ever been a question that he could coach.

Barnes is a heck of a X&O coach and a game day coach.....He took over a program that had 4 coaches in 5 years counting him. Pearl, 3 years of Cuonzo, 1 year of Tyndall and then Barnes....Not a lot of stability for some of the top kids in the country to come knocking down our doors. I fully expect recruiting to pick up.....right now we are a good big or 2 from being a darn good basketball team.

Hubbs will be gone after this year, but other than him, the core of this team should stay intact for a while.  Jordan Bone and Grant Williams form a great inside/outside foundation (and they're both freshmen).  And somehow, Barnes has turned this bunch of midgets into a defensive and rebounding powerhouse.  Give Barnes one more shooter and a bit more size, and there's no telling what they can do.

There's a segment of our fanbase unhappy with every coach we have, always.  No offense, but how long have you been following the Vols?

The committee will penalize Tennessee because we are in SEC. According to all the NCAA experts, SEC does not have any team other than Kentucky. If you are not a team in ACC, Big East, or Big 10, you are no good. So it will not matter unless Tennessee wins or goes deep into SEC tourney. According to all the NCAA experts, SEC is trash and not worthy.

I think if we only drop a couple more games, we have a pretty good shot.  It would be amazing after the way the year started.

The loss to Chattanooga hurts.  A lot.  I can't remember if we have any more really bad losses.  I know we beat ETSU (barely) because I was there.  We do have some outstanding wins.
