She has the basketball version of Heup's offense

Coach Caldwell statement:
?I am honored and humbled to accept the role as head coach of this historic program at the University of Tennessee,? Caldwell said in a statement. ?I can?t help but reflect on accepting the Pat Summitt Trophy three seasons ago and be moved by the great responsibility and opportunity of now leading and building upon the incredible Lady Vol tradition she built.?

Danny White statement:
?From the beginning, our goal has been to find a dynamic head coach who can restore our women?s basketball program to national prominence. Kim Caldwell is the ideal person to lead us,? athletic director Danny White said in a statement. ?Kim has a winning formula that she has successfully implemented everywhere she has coached, with a fast-paced, high-octane offense and pressure defense that has led to remarkable results.?

Press Conference Tuesday to introduce her

This is definitely an NIL-era hire. I think they?re going to back her with mountains of cash, to negate the recruiting advantage that some of the bigger names in this league would have over her. I?m not sure they would?ve made this hire a few years ago. But her on-court resume is excellent. I think she?ll do well.

This is definitely a surprise. I saw her name mentioned but it was sort of dismissed due to her lack of Division I experience.

Maybe she will have the fire to get this program back on track.

it is a very incentive laden contract

Some ADs have big egos. In some cases, that ego translates to ?I?m gonna drop a pallet of cash on Nick Saban?s front lawn and get him to come work for me?. In others, it?s ?I?m gonna ?discover? this D2 coach no one has ever heard of and look like a genius when they win big?. Danny White is clearly the latter. Nate Oates, Lance Liepold, Josh Heupel.  Caldwell fits right into that group.

Her on-the-court performance is in the rafters. Exactly where we want to be.

If Caldwell is the "Lady Vol Heupel" as mentioned above, that reminds me of Hamilton hiring Lane Kiffin to be the "football Bruce Pearl". If it worked once, do it again.

I think Caldwell will work out better than Kiffin though.

She looks like Kaley Cuoco... winning will be an added bonus.

FWIW
She has been married less than a year (got married in Pegion Forge)
Her husband is a basketball coach (current an assistant for Men's BB at Marshall)

Is he going to be on the coaching staff?

I think he might be reprimanding me. I accept his criticism. I'll try to do better.

I think Droner was joking with that question... :naughty:
