The only team playing consistently right now is Auburn.  And having observed their coach, I know he could GAS about conference tourneys.  The Vols never did well at the SECT with Pearl.  In fact, I seem to vaguely recall him hinting that it was a distraction from the dance.

So I expect Auburn to under perform in the SECT.  I am worried about bammer, but maybe that was just a fluke and they are so inconsistent that odds are we won't have to face them.  And anyway maybe their game at home vs. us was  a bit of a fluke.

Any other team, we can take.

I can't wait to see the seedings.  I think we have a great shot.  I might even try to go see a game or 3.

It's going to be wide open, and we have a better chance than most.  But if I had to pick a winner right now, I'd probably pick Mizzou.  They'll be playing close to home, and they're getting their superstar recruit Porter back healthy for first time since November.  Plus, they're likely still on the bubble and have a lot to play for.

I hate the conference tourney.....hate it. It's all about the money. Play all season long then in the course of 4 days you get hot and win the thing then you get to walk around with your chest out. IIRC a few years back UGA came into the tourney with a losing record...got hot and won the damn thing and went to the Dance....Also hate the auto bids if you win the tourney.

And...don't sleep on KY in the SECT. They are playing better and I won't be surprised if they do well.

We've all seen this script many times. Do not sleep on UK. It'll be hard to beat them 3x if we play them.

I have to disagree. I love the tournament aspect of college basketball. I really like the fact that at the end of the regular season, once conference tournaments begin, as long as you outplay everyone in your way you survive. Literally every team has a shot.

That's what creates situations like NC State under Jimmy V and the idea of Hoosier-like endings.

Now, I will agree that this means that the NCAA tournament champion might not always be the best team in the country, but they are the team that did everything that was needed during tournament play.

I personally think that the SEC tourney is up for grabs. We could win it, but so could at least seven other teams. I'm just pleased that we are an NCAA tournament lock and that we played better today.

I'm hoping that this group has their second wind and is ready for the next few weeks.
