Dobbs being a better passer is impossible and his elusiveness and running ability are much critical to the O. IMO he has to keep the ball more, in both games the DEs tend to crash inside for Hurd providing huge opportunities for Dobbs and if he'll force them to be more respectful of his abilities it will in turn provide more opportunities for big runs for Hurd/Kamara.     One thing is for sure Dobbs gives his all for Tennessee every week.

Dobbs does give his all....he just needs to improve on his reads. Too many times he gives it when he should have kept it. Way too many times he's giving it to Hurd between the tackles when there are 8 defenders with 6 yards of the LOS. We've got to get Kamara more involved in the offense going forward.....he needs to touch it 10-12 times at least. Not sure our passing game will ever be any better with Dobbs at QB and every team we play will keep 8-9 in the box.

Dobbs still has his issues, but IMO his downfield throws have been much more accurate this season. I'm not sure why we aren't utilizing the deep ball a little bit more.

The throw & catch to Malone was nice!

Receivers are still not getting much separation from the defenders, which makes every catch harder than it should be.

Actually they are, just that Josh doesn't have time to get the ball to them.
One example, Josh Smith broke wide open on the play that Kamara caught the pass for a TD, just that when our LG missed the stunt and allowed his man to come free untouched, Josh had not time to see him, let alone throw to him.

Smith is open, a LOT but Josh either doesn't see him, doesn't have time to see him or can't get him the ball in a catchable position.

Also, Smith and Williams both had drops Saturday (two in two games for Williams)

Against ASU in the 2nd half they were dropping 8 into coverage, making it difficult for anybody to get open, though the first pass to Malone was against similar coverage.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the insight. I guess it's OL line play that has been suspect for lack of passing, especially deep. If this offense can be a threat deep, it would open all kinds of running room.

Cut and pasted this quote about Dobbs ranking in the SEC through the first two games. It is kinda eye opening and unexpected.

10th in passing
8th in total offense

...in the 14 team conference. He is behind 3 Freshman QBs who have played against better competition.
Did any of us expect the OL to be as bad as it's been? Doesn't bode well when we face SEC defensive fronts.

He had a really bad game against Appy State.  Numbers will improve.
