In 6A Oakland was upset by Blackman, whom Oakland had beaten in the regular season.  Their prize? They get to go to #1 Maryville for the semis, who beat a really good Sevier County team like a drum for the second time this year.  In the west side semis Hendersonville will host White Station.

5A:  West outlasted Anderson County and will host Cleveland in a rematch.  West beat Cleveland by 10 in a regular season game. Henry County beat Ridgeway for the second time this year, and will go to upstart Clarksville Northeast in the other semifinals.  I've said all along that Knoxville West and Henry County will meet in the finals.  I still firmly believe that.

4A:  Greeneville turned out to be more talk than action as they went to Knoxville Fulton in a 1 (Fulton) vs 2 (Greeneville) game.  Fulton was playing without D1-A prospect and 2K yard rusher Daryl Rollins-Davis, but still rolled the hornless Green Devils 40-20. and it wasn't nearly that close.  Knoxville Catholic has gotten some injured players back and went to Hixson and won a game that wasn't decided until the last play of the game 14-13.  They will go to Fulton.  In the west side of the bracket Giles County and Trezvant will play in the semis.

3A: Alcoa ripped CAK a new one, and will host Upperman, who has a QB named York who has been about 75% of their offense this year.  Even if he was SGT Alvin T. York it wouldn't matter.  Alcoa has way too much for them.  In the other semi game, CPA will play Lewis County.  Alcoa and CPA are on a collision course for the championship.

2A: #1 Grace Christian of Knoxville handled Silverdale, and will host Trousdale County in a battle of unbeaten teams and another game with the teams ranked 1-2 in the state.  In reality, in my opinion, this is the state championship game.  On the other side Adamsville beat Eagleville and Trinity Christian over Memphis Mitchell.  That winner will play the GCA/Trousdale winner for it all.

1A:  South Pitt is again the team to beat, but they have a real test at a good Coalfield team this week in the semis.  Coalfield has a UT verbal in Zach Stewart, and several other guys who will likely play college football at some level.  If Coalfield is going to get past the South Pitt barrier, this is the year for them.  Could be an interesting game.  On the west side, both #1s - Nashville Christian and Union City will meet to see who plays in Cookeville.

In D2 - AA, Ensworth got revenge on Brentwood Academy with a win in the semis, but at a cost.  Head Coach Ricky Bowers and an assistant were tossed with 2 second left to go, and have to sit out the finals in two weeks against MUS, who beat MBA in the other semi game.

D2- A, Knoxville Webb is in the finals against St. George's.  Webb beat ECS, while St. George's beat DCA.

The D2 teams get a week off before playing a week from Thursday for their championships.  The 1A, 3A, and 5A championship games will be on that Friday, followed on Saturday by the 2A, 4A, and 6A championship games.

I've been trying to get that off the TSSAA website but they don't have it up yet. They've had three days. C'mon Man

Sometimes they aren't in much of a hurry over there.  Matt Gillespie does a great job there, but he's about the only one I have dealt with there who seems to give a rat's behind whether things get done and get done well.

Here is what I don't understand....Henry Co was the #1 seed but because of a TSSAA rule, they now have to travel to Clarksville NE in the Semi-Finals.  Somehow, this does not make sense!

If both No. 1 seeds advance to the semifinals, someone has to travel. So in odd years, the odd quadrant No. 1 hosts; in even years, the even quadrant No. 1 hosts.

Same think happened to Powell last year
I believe Creek is correct

Yes, there are actually 4 #1 seeds in each classification, and which quad hosts the semis is pre-determined.  In odd years quads 1 and 3 host, and in even years quads 2 and 4 host.

I knew that and that format is correct IF all #1 seeds advance. Henry co is a 1 seed and Clarksville ne is #7 seed but yet Henry co travels to northeast

Seeding actually ceases to matter after the quarterfinals. In the semifinal game, the odd-quad team always hosts in odd years and the even-quad team always hosts in even years.

Blackman will be by far the best team Maryville has seen so far this year. Blackman has a stud QB,Really good Running Backs,Big Strong Oline and a great defense.

Fulton will kill Catholic and win big next week. Alcoa will beat Upperman and play CPA next week. West will have a tough one with Cleveland.
