Fire him.... Announce Gruden
never, but the earlier the better (if the replacement is announced quickly)

Word is now saying Gruden isn't interested in college, only pro.  So what little enthusiasm I have left for Vol football these days is on life support.  I'm not sure who might be considered next in line, but in my opinion it will have to be a big name otherwise the recruiting class will be dismal and we'll head right back down the path we've been on.  I see only one answer now:

See Vinnie...he can still be your coach.  Of the Cowboys.

I say bring in Charlie Strong if a change happens.  Our problems are almost entirely on on the D.  Surely a defensive guru like Strong can right the ship and at least be...below average to average looks really good right now.

My next suggestion will be less popular, but on the offensive side, retain much of the staff.  At a min, Graham but I would like to see the OLine coach back and even Chaney.

On the D side, retain only the DL coach.  I do think continuty is important.  As little as I think of Suneri, that is a big part of the problem this year IMO.

Also, per your original post...if there is a change, after UK.

I don't want anything to eff up our paying them back this year.  I will be there and I want to see some serious bloodshed.

No way Gruden agrees to work for that wacko J. Jones.

I'd say it depends on how your commit list is looking.  If you have a solid class in place and are looking to hold it together then you probably want to wait as long as possible to make the move, so other schools will have fewer schollys available to give to your commits should they decide to look elsewhere.  But if your class isn't looking so hot (and ours isn't), then you probably want to add more good players, and/or get in on some guys that you wouldn't have had a shot at with your old coach.  In that case, the move should be made ASAP.
