I’m 100% back off the Pruitt wagon again. He has completely bungled this game from a coaching standpoint and has gotten dominated by a team with far inferior talent.

He can’t get these players to play. Which is the most important thing a coach needs to do. This game looks a lot like the first game they played. And, you can’t have a decent football team without a QB. Tenn does not have one.

it was the best effort we have seen in awhile. But the most hopeful aspect of the game was the QB's play.
It looks like he may be a good QB. You cannot be a good team anymore without a good QB. And we have not had one in some time.

every coach has an ego. every one from pee wee to the pros believe they are the best coach in the world. period.

Sadly for the Vols, that is becoming more evident with each game.   Talent.  Coaching/discipline.  Motivation.  From the on-field product, it's hard to check the boxes for these success factors.

I think the players now have played to much football. they play and are involved in football just about all 12 months of the year.
a lot more football than we did. For some the may be done when they get the scholarship.

the vols need some SEC players. And may need some SEC coaching;

and coaching cannot be his problem He just can't play.

JJ was not very good last year. He is worse this year.

That's how much Tennessee has been out-scored by in the 3rd and 4th quarters this season.

Against Georgia State and BYU. 

This exposes two issues, both of them infuriating. One is this team's lack of conditioning. We all thought Butch let S&C lapse, and another year in Pruitt's S&C program would make this team tougher, stronger and ready to compete in the second half. Yet, we're getting gashed in the fourth quarter by offenses that are just not very good. The other is the in-game adjustments. Georgia State and BYU both made adjustments that helped them win these games. Tennessee didn't make adjustments.

Our coaching staff is widely regarded as one of the best in America (and it's certainly one of the highest-paid), and we're getting thoroughly out-coached by a BYU coach who may not survive the season and a coach who's a career non-P5 coach.

We have major issues that many Tennessee fans would prefer to ignore.

It is not that Tenn fans ignore the issues. There is nothing they can do about it. But gripe,curse,throw things,go hiking,drink, etc. But I repeat   they can't change any of the issues.

I don't agree at all.  We have talent, just not experience.  And last week we lacked both experience and motivation.  At least tonight we had motivation.

whatever the case we don't have what it takes to beat the teams we play.

UT. I'm sure we have more talent than Ga State and BYU.

Severe lack of development of the OL he has now had for 2+ years

I  Don’t think yesterday was about development It was about effort. And these coaches did not get these players to play.

Hiring coaches in college football is strictly trial and error. Very few get what they want.

Friend has nothing to work with but Freshman. And the only hope to change that is the freshman getting older. However the game yesterday was lost because of a lack of effort.

You have to get them to play. Not just show up.

I remember the days when I didn't sleep Sat night after a UT loss and I was still pi$$ed off come Monday....Not that that way anymore, I just turn the channel and watch another game. The top programs in the country are committed to winning and UT over the past several years as in 15 or more it's just used as a event. Tailgate...Vol Navy...etc..etc...The football game is just a after thought. We've become what Vandy use to be....and we can't beat their asses either. If someone told me 20 years ago we'd lose 5 of 7 and 3 in a row to those folks on West End I'd a laughed in their faces and bet my farm and 2 mules against it. Glad I didn't !!!! UT and the piss poor leadership has made me lose interest in UT.

What are they basing the hire on for Harper?...her being a VFL or that she has  proven she can coach. I don't see where she has proven she can coach. Her record at NC State was 70-64 and fired after four seasons. What has changed to indicate she can coach. Made the NCAA tourney by winning her conference tourney by beating Drake.

Who knows what Kelly can do at Tenn. We do know the supposed best coach available and one many wanted is 1 and 13 against Geno.
We don't know if Kelly can beat Geno. We know Waltz can't.

Welcome and hope folks will give her a chance.....Hope she hasn't read any message board fodder or she'd be depressed before she ever blows her whistle as the LVs coach. Some posts have been down right ugly.

Kelly is an adult. Meaning she knows many on message boards are idiots. I doubt if anything said here would depress her.

Geno knows that there hasn't been much to limit his success since Pat's cognitive decline began. He also realizes that the right hire at Tennessee can throw a bigger obstacle in his path than any other 5 schools combined.

If I'm Geno and I think there's a chance Jeff Walz winds up in Knoxville, I'm quaking in my boots.

Coaches like Geno do not quake in their boots. Geno is 13 --1 against Waltz. Waltz is not and will never be the coach Geno is.

One of the biggest puzzlers for me about Holly is how could she have been around Pat for so many years and acquire so little of Pats coaching style and traits?

Pat was born with the traits that made he different. They are not learned. Few people have them.
