Great win. I wonder if we will hear about UK not bring Vandy tonight?

Anyone who hasn’t seen improvement in this team over the past few weeks isn’t looking for it, imo. The team has had times where they’ve not been as productive as we would all like for them to be, but overall I think they have progressed over the past several games.

At one point early in the SEC season I thought that a .500 SEC record would be tough to achieve. A win tonight would put this team in a tie for second (as far as losses go, anyway). I didn’t think that was possible after the first few weeks of January.

I do not see this team as a final four or elite 8 squad right now, but overall the level of play has improved as far as I’m concerned.

**Addendum: We may get beat by UK tonight. I think they are definitely final four capable at this point (I really hate to say that), but I am hoping for a much better showing than earlier at Rupp.

I agree. While I would love to see SV come back next year, o really doubt that he will. He’s ready to get paid.

I also think it is possible that we will lose one (or both) of the freshmen bigs. I really hope that both stick, but I’m not going to hold my breath. 🤞🏻

With the portal, roster management is going to be a full time job. It would be nice if we could hold on to ZZ, SV, ORN, BHH, and JJJ. I will be greatly surprised if we keep all of those, though.

With 1 & 25 on the bench with 3 (or 4) fouls the subs just didn't move as well
That resulted in our offensive implosion.
The only players constantly moving in the 2nd half were Fulky & Ziegler, who played really well tonight
Ziegler is so quick lightning can't keep up

I was surprised how well Uros played.  He really hustles on defense
It was very clear he was to double their guards when they were outside high
With Fulky we really didn't do that

Late in the game when Ziegler stole the ball in their lane and fed Chandler for the layup the building exploded.

Exactly my thoughts. This team is better on offense when we push the pace on the offensive end. In the second half were a lot more deliberate. Some of that is personnel. They need to be playing with pace and have movement (other than the weave motion at the top of the key).

13-5 would be a really good final SEC record for this team. Really good.

12-6 would likely wrap up a top 4 spot, but 13-5 (or better) would be so much more of an accomplishment.

That was a really big W.  We needed that 2-game cushion for 4th.  We have some tough games left (UK, AU, and Arky x 2), just to name a few.

I'd expect to see a lot more of the single post lineup now.  We will see more of Powell, Bailey, and whoever steps up among the BHH, Mashack, and Aidoo group.

That's a severe blow to this team.

Since the last five minutes of the Texas game, I see JJJ being more aggressive and more confident. Why?  That’s the $1M question but we need it to continue.

JJJ stepping up is big for this team.

Look, I’m team Bruce. We should’ve never fired him. But let’s be honest: the only reason Harsin is on his way out at AU while Bruce is still employed is this:

👍🏻 I’m not a Bruce apologist. It think he was an idiot to react the way he did to the BBQ. He has only himself to blame for his firing here imo.

As for Harsin, you could be right. He’s not had a great year at AU. Maybe they were looking for an excuse, but if the allegations are true he has nobody to blame but himself.

If the rumors are untrue, I feel sorry for the girl and the Harsins.

But again- if they use this as an excuse to fire their football coach, then they’ll have to explain why their basketball coach who did the exact same thing isn’t following him out the door.

Obviously I don't know if the accusations against Harsin are factual or not, but it is nowhere near the same as the situation with Bruce and his second wife, Brandy.  Bruce was the head coach at Tennessee when he married Brandy and from what I have read she was not employed by UT as his subordinate at the time.  

We tried to take the air out of the ball a little early and it got scary for a while.

That is interesting! Wow! What was he thinking?  It makes you wonder if that was the play from the bench or if he simply tried to call that timeout on his own.

One thing is certain: if he had simply run the floor he would not have gotten leveled trying to get to the rim for a possible put-back.

CRB talks a lot about wanting to play fast, but it doesn't seem to happen until times are desperate in a lot of cases.

I think they play tight on offense.  I don't know why, but I think they do.  In the last five minutes, when they couldn't "think" and had to just score, they seemed to "just play" on the offensive end of the court.

Also, if you watch the last shot, ORN got leveled by a Texas player as he was going to the glass for a possible rebound.  It wasn't just a foul - if it wasn't at least an F1, there is no such thing.

**Addendum: The missed foul didn't cost UT the game.  35 minutes of piss poor offense cost them the game, but it was a horrible no-call imo.

It was a great look for 3, but I'm always in favor of attacking the glass in that situation.  Great effort in the last 5 minutes.

I very rarely question officials, but those two fouls on SV and JJJ on their last two possessions were cheap, I thought.  That didn't cost us the game - our lack of offense for 13 to 15 minutes cost us the game - but those two fouls were ticky-tack (both called by the same official if I'm not mistaken).

I really have no idea what the offensive strategy is for this team.  

Maybe, maybe not, but ORN has to be smarter than that imo.  Don't leave the floor when an opposing player is launching one from mid-court.

It is tough to watch.  This team would likely have a tough time scoring at the Chicken Ranch with a handful of Benjamins.

I'm really impressed that, when LSU seemed to attempt to make the game really physical (especially in the second half), the players responded in kind. I have felt for the past several games that teams were being physical and we were not reacting well to it - that wasn't the case tonight.

He is, as of today, head and shoulders above any other big man that we have on this team. Bravo Uros.

I agree with the TV guys that he seems to hand some confidence in himself now. I hope he continues to improve!!
