Well that sucks. He would?ve been a huge contributor next year. That said, if he didn?t like his playing time, he really has only himself to blame. If could?ve avoided the fouls, he would?ve gotten the same minutes as Aidoo, if not more.
That gives us, what, 5 portal openings now? Let?s hope CRB hits on at least 3 of them. Other than DK, his portal record isn?t the greatest.

author=BanditVol link=topic=44540.msg220332#msg220332 date=1712549417] I think being the all time leading scorer at any school would get attention. But had she gone to any of those other schools, she likely is not the leading score of all time.
I don?t know- I had never heard of the girl whose record Clark broke until she started getting close. Her name is Kelsey Plum, BTW. She went to Washington, and she?s a smokeshow.

Funny thing is, this is a downgrade for Arkansas. Hadn?t musselman been to something like 2 elite 8?s and 2 sweet 16?s over the past 5 seasons? Cal didn?t come close to that, with far more talent.
What worries me is that UK might now get someone like Dan Hurley or Jay Wright.
We?ll see what happens, but this might not be a positive development for us.

Ironically, I don't think she would've gotten anywhere NEAR the notoriety if she had gone there. I think a big part of her universal appeal is that she plays for a team that people aren't sick of. If she had gone to UConn, SC, LSU, or even UT, she's just another great player in a long line of great players. But at Iowa, she's the most recognizable female athlete in the world. Funny how these things work out. I think The Rolling Stones made a song about it.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Per espn, it's Kim Caldwell, from Marshall

This is definitely a surprise. I saw her name mentioned but it was sort of dismissed due to her lack of Division I experience.
Maybe she will have the fire to get this program back on track.
Some ADs have big egos. In some cases, that ego translates to ?I?m gonna drop a pallet of cash on Nick Saban?s front lawn and get him to come work for me?. In others, it?s ?I?m gonna ?discover? this D2 coach no one has ever heard of and look like a genius when they win big?. Danny White is clearly the latter. Nate Oates, Lance Liepold, Josh Heupel. Caldwell fits right into that group.

This is definitely an NIL-era hire. I think they?re going to back her with mountains of cash, to negate the recruiting advantage that some of the bigger names in this league would have over her. I?m not sure they would?ve made this hire a few years ago. But her on-court resume is excellent. I think she?ll do well.

A lot of smoke around the Marshall coach right now. Looking at her record and listening to her in interviews, I think she'd do great. But boy would it be a hard sell to this fanbase turning over the keys to someone with no P5 experience, and only one year in D1. Which is why I doubt it's really her.

Not a big surprise. He got lost too often, especially on defense, but it?ll probably click for him somewhere. Expect DJ Jefferson to follow, and hopefully that?ll be it.

At least assuming we can?t get someone like Staley or Hammons, I think I like USCw coach Gottlieb the most. USC is our historical peer in this sport- one of the pioneering programs that had long been dormant, and she quickly revived them. Plus, she has the #1 recruiting class in America committed for next year, so maybe she could bring some/all of them with her.

And I won?t get over it anytime soon. But in an effort to cheer myself up, I?ve taken a trip down a rabbit hole. If you?re so inclined, go to the search bar at the top of this page, type in ?Currie?, ?Schiano?, or ?Haslam?, read some of the results, and marvel at how far we?ve come since those days.

I honestly don?t mean this as sour grapes, but this is the major factor in our loss. If his fouls are largely ignored, it is nearly impossible to beat them
This is what I was saying last week. To beat Purdue, you have to get at least a somewhat fair whistle, or else it?s completely out of your hands. It was being called pretty evenly until we went on that 15-2 run. Then they went into ?Protect the Precious? mode and never let up. That tells me there was intent. Even if we HAD shot better from the midrange, they still would?ve found a way to take it from us in the end. We were never winning this game. Shouldn?t even have made the trip. The powers that be want UConn vs Purdue in the finals, and that?s what they?ll get come hell or high water.
