If he gets fired for misconduct. why do they have to pay him anything?

So many snowflake players nowadays. Bobby Knight would be in prison if he coached in todays world. What a generation of wimps we are producing?

They could have fired him for cause and litigated whether or not he would receive his buyout. But they didn't want his dirty laundry to be aired publicy. At least not anymore than it had already been aired.

So they asked him how much to go away. Everyone has a number.

This isn't the 1970s anymore, Toto. Gregg Marshall knows it just as much as Rick Barnes and John Calipari and even Bobby Knight ... and any high school coach. If you physically accost one of your players, you will not survive as a coach. If you use racial slurs to address your players, you will not survive as a coach.

We also at various points wanted Will Wade, Shaka Smart, and Mike White. Some of us (meekly raises hand) wanted to hold on to Donnie Tyndall.

I think it's safe to say we ended up doing alright.
