Do you think the Braves will trade Tim Hudson or Jair Jurrgens after the season? If they do it could free up a whole lot of money to get a top flight free agent
No way they trade Jurrjens- he's 25, and I think he has one more year before he's arbitration eligible. When you can get his kind of production for a touch over $3M, you hang on to him. Hudson makes $9M, but at his age they won't get much for him at that kind of salary. And that goes double for Lowe. Really, once those two guys and Chipper come off the payroll in a couple years, they Braves should be very well-positioned for the future. They have 6 grade A starting pitching prospects all under age 25, which means they can hang on to 5 of them and trade another for a big bat. With O'Flerhety, Venters, and Kimbrel, the back end of the pen is set for years to come. They have some great young position players like Heyward, Freeman, Prado, Bourne, and McCann (seems like he's been around forever, but he's still only 27). In a couple years, this team is going to be a GM's dream: young, talented, and cheap.
