I like Marvin West.  I recall his columns in the KNS when I moved to Ktown in the early 80s.  He's a great writer.   There's something nice and nostalgic about seeing him write for a local free paper and invite readers to email him at a Netzero email addy.

He must be mostly writing for the love of it at this point.

Sad to hear of England's death. He is the first star player I remember from listening to the Vols as a kid. He should definitely be on all of the Vols all-time great lists.

The Marvin West the person was not a particular friend in the late 60s.  Fortunately, as the years faded those memories, I learned to appreciate his writing.  Between he an Ben Byrd at the Journal were two pretty darn good writers, far, far superior to any we have today in Knoxvegas.

Yup.  They were both pretty good.  Byrd liked to write about the classic Neyland games and also the Dickey era.
