I have a hard time believing that. Watching him in pressers, Butch looks defeated; like a guy who's already checked out. And even if it IS true, how much support is he going to find? I've never seen this fanbase this united against a sitting coach, even in Dooley's last year.
I'd be shocked if there's much more support for Butch other than his family.....not sure about all of them.

Tnphil, I do not disagree with you.
I actually think that very few people know what's actually happening. A very few.
We do know, though, with a fair degree of certainty that JG explored the option to some degree in 2012. I'd personally love to see it happen and I'm hoping that it does, because more than anything else it would demonstrate that there was a commitment to restoring this program to the level that I believe it should be. That said, I'm very, very skeptical of the likelihood of it actually happening. As Hubbs said, "I'll have to believe it to see it,"
Aside from of all that, though: reading the pro- and anti- JG banter on VQ is better than watching SNL!
I agree...It's comedy gold. I'd love to see Gruden just for the name.....But if I'd was picking I'd pick 3-4 before I pick JG.

or trolls (if that's what they really are), on VQ is growing and includes some long time posters now. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, just something that I find interesting.
Today, DukeSilverVol posted on VQ that he is now convinced that Gruden is in. According to him, he got info today from some people who 'should know' that leads him to think that its all settled. When asked for more specifics on what he was told, he replied: "We called. He was interested. We came back with an offer. He said thanks but no thanks. (There were "irreconcilable" (at the time) differences). We came back again with those desires of his met. He said he'd think about it. We finally came back after the latest loss, and he said he was in."
The same thread also details some of the "control issues" that were stumbling blocks included academic issues that prevent UT from competing on a level playing field with other SEC schools. Those issues have supposedly been resolved and according to what is being posted our new staff will not be handcuffed in that regard.
I'm a nobody as far as intel goes. I have absolutely zero connections. I cannot validate or refute anything that is stated here. I just thought some on here maybe haven't seen this info and thought that I'd relay it.
Go back and find the threads in 2012 and they are almost exactly what's being posted now...Also the academic issues and the control issues where being said in 2012.....All the 'Insiders' ride the fence.....If it does happen they will say....I told you so. If it doesn't happen then it was the AD's fault or the PTBs fault. When you ride that fence playing the 50/50 game you can't be wrong. Also....most of these 'Insiders' have had Butch fired every Monday for a month and when he hasn't been fired they report that things changed. When in fact Butch was never going to be fired on a Monday the last month. 99.9% of all this is bullsheet...Like I've said before there is 100 plus insiders now that know what's about to happen but not one of them knew who the starting QB was going to be before the first game. I guess they are only 'Insiders' when there is a coaching hire.

My first in person UT game was in 1958.....I've seen some bad football in those years and this years team ranks up there real high on the worst list. Not only are we bad on offense we are coached worse. We don't do anything to create mismatches against defenses. Our run game is clueless, no miss directions, no counters, no lead blockers, just run it between the tackles and hope to gain a yard....our OL is pitiful....our WRs are not good most of the time...we have TEs that can't catch and one that avoids contact like it was the plague and now if Calloway is out it only gets worse. Started the season with 15 offensive linemen and now down to 7.....and playing our 3rd string QB. We need to sacrifice a goat or chicken or something to get this curse lifted.

I think Jones has definitely strayed from the original intent of the VFL program, and several players aren't happy about it.
JMO....but I think some VFL'ers figured out Butch and his BS and Butch doesn't like it.

I see no way a coach...any coach knowing a kid had a concussion was allowed to play. There are trainers and teams doctors on the sidelines for a reason. If the player says nothing and continues to play with no signs it's hard to blame anyone. Also the refs are schooled to watch for such things and report/stop play on the spot.

Kelly's SC was imposed in 2013, and was only 18 months long. As far as the NCAA is concerned, he's now in the clear. But this new SEC rule means that any coach who has had NCAA issues at any time in the past will have be approved by the commissioner. So as far as the SEC is concerned, all NCAA actions against a coach have no expiration date and last a lifetime. Pretty severe policy, if you ask me.
That's what I thought too.

We can all get mad at Butch and the coaches.....We can want him fired yesterday...today or tomorrow but sometimes damn players have to make plays. And for some reason (much like Vandy over the past decades) we just can't make a play when it's there to be made or not make a stupid mistake. It goes back several years involving many games even before Butch. There were plays last night to be made that we didn't make that resulted in a loss to KY. Maybe this team needs a psychological evaluation.
