A Gamecock friend of mine said that it was being posted on their boards that Burns was transferring to LSU. And, on Facebook, a UT fan posted that Burns was considering leaving.

What's the scoop? I don't see anything about it on any of the UT news sites.

Austin Price had a post on VQ last night that made it sound like a real possibility.

Nothing but rumors.....Within 1 hour of the end of football....basketball men and women....baseball ....UT fans start talking transfers and portals.

So far I've heard Burns to LSU....they have been after him for months which you can't do but UT fans seems to believe everything posted.......I've heard he's going to UGA because UGA hired the LSU pitching coach to be their head coach and Burns will follow him.....I've heard Burns agent wants him to go to the Big 10 because he can be a starting pitcher and get his stats up.....You can bet your asses that if he stays at UT the rumors will flow that he stayed due to getting millions.....and I mean millions in NIL money that no team in the country could match.

I’m sure that there are a great many false rumors; there’s always are, as you’ve said.

Having said that, Brent Hubbs and Austin Price have both made statements on VQ that seem to indicate that they both think he’s likely to leave UT. They aren’t known to respond to rumors with statements such as those made last night.

If he doesn't want to be here he needs to be gone.

Basilio says that the subject will be covered in today's show. But the speculation is that Burns is peeved because he lost his starting job. Apparently, it's not a money issue. UT can pony up, as the saying goes. It still seems strange to say that about a college athlete. Uh, I mean a "student athlete".

It sounds like he’s gone. Not sure where. Clearly LSU’s meddling set all this in motion, but that may not be where he ends up.

And if he’s really mad about losing his starting job, he needs to step back and look at the big picture. He was killing us as a starter. In fact, the whole season turned when he was removed from the rotation and started looking like his old self in the bullpen. I assume he would move back into a starting role next year, but clearly CTV pushed the right button for this 2023 team. And if Burns can’t see that, then maybe he needs to be gone.

I agree with you both, except that I’m not certain that LSU got this started. There is some talk that Burns himself was the instigator. Who knows? 🤷🏼‍♂️

He lost his starting job because he was awful when he was sent to the pen. We made it to Omaha and the final four. I'd say Tony V made the right call.

This NIL crap is going to cause turmoil like this in all sports. The can has been opened.

Essentially, he's upset that he got demoted to the bull pen, never mind the move enabled the team to get to the WS
NIL is NOT the issue from what I've heard

He was a lot better in the pen than as a starter.  If his ego can't handle that, let him be gone.
