That "church" and it's followers are proof that brainwashing can be a powerful tool
Most of the members of Westboro are all members of the Phelps clan. And many of them have law degrees. I don't think even they believe the nonsense they spout. Their goal is to goad people into losing their temper, resulting in lawsuits. Most of those suits are settled out of court. It's resulted in a comfortable living for the Phelps family, though I'm convinced they're going to have much to answer for when they meet their maker. I have spoken with a couple of them on the phone before and they truly are batshizzle crazy.
