is such a great coach why hasn't anyone hired him the last few years?  Is he all hype and rock star image from his MNF stint?

(I am preparing for a less than stellar announcement)

I think his hiring would be a big spark for UT and, based on what some of the high school recruits are saying, it would probably help recruiting. At least in the short term.

However, I have not been able to see anything he's done that leads people to believe so vehemently that he will be successful in college.

A lot of his success would depend on him getting the right assistants. JMO

He will be able to recruit, and he has the reputation as a motivator. Those factors are very important in college. Oh and he has won a superbowl, so he can coach!

The Tampa-by-the-Bay Bucs are/were paying him very well NOT to coach.  We are withing days of that payout to end

I have always believed the TB buyout has been the preventor to his coaching until now.  Could be wrong.

I don't know, as you know my view of Gruden mania, I didn't care enough to do that research.  I would assume it is a first of the month type thing so next week?

That and the fact that he has a pretty sweet job at ESPN - but a coach usually gets the itch to coach again.

I don't get too caught up in what a guy does in the NFL. He did win a SB, but he had little control over what players he got. He will have that in college. IMO that is a big deal for him

Jon said it himself. When Peyton led the Colts back from 21 down with 4 minutes left, the Bucs began looking for a new coach. Serious.
