That Hyams is reporting that Gruden has said "Thanks, but no thanks".

LOL.   At first read, I thought you said "JOHN Ward tweeted", and I was like, no way does that dude tweet.

I just heard Hyams on 104.5 and he didn't say anything like that.  He said Hart isn't going to hire someone he hasn't spoken to face to face.

The twit feed on GVX says this: Gruden told Tennessee he appreciated the opportunity but he's no longer a candidate.

That tweet by Josh was actually shortly before 6 a.m. this morning. Here's another tweet from Hyams at the same time:

"Jon Gruden is out as UT candidate. Informed UT recently after phone talks last week. UT never offered contract, source said."

I have always thought, still think and will think until it's done that Gruden-to-UT is a long shot. But Hyams makes me more skeptical every time he opens his mouth.

He went from saying that Gruden-to-UT was ludicrous to, last Wednesday when things were hitting a fever pitch, saying that negotiations had hit a "snag." Then this Wednesday with talk heating up again, he says that Gruden canceled a meeting with UT. Now, two days later, after the TFP and the KNS run stories reporting that a deal may be close, he comes back with something that completely and 100% contradicts that by saying that Gruden is out and has been out for a while.

The TFP and KNS reports are probably the most substantial things yet linking Gruden to the job. Is it coincidence that Hyams comes out with his biggest contradictory claims almost immediately after those stories hit?

I mean, seriously. 48 hours ago Hyams' sources said that Gruden was set to meet with UT but canceled. Now he claims sources said that the deal was off a week ago. Obviously it isn't both ways. So which is it?

I denied it early on, but at this point I think Hyams is just a mouthpiece for whatever the UTAD wants to put out there.

LOL. I fizzleing love this. Dogs chasing their tails. Whatever the reason for all the contradictory stories, somebody is either a master fiddle player or has done a masterful job by sheer accident, like monkeys banging out Beethoven's 5th on pianos.

Regardless the media has been taken for a ride nearly as crazy as the ones fans have been taking. I think that's great.

Gruden saying "no" would be all over ESPN if true.

That has been my favorite thing about all this.  No one in the media knows what is going on.  If that is by design, then.....genius!    If it's not, then.....hilarious!

Hyams has reported talks between the two never occurred, ended, ended again, and ended again.

That alone makes all this worth it.

Yep, and in the end he will claim he had it right if it's not Gruden, regardless of the inconsistencies.  He's rolling the 50/50 dice.
