is getting new sod. Every morning this week, two truckloads of sod rolls have been delivered via the backside of the Hill. Has anyone seen an article on this? I seem to remember a ton of work being done on the sod last year so I wonder why they are having to do this now. I never noticed any problems with the turf performance last year, and S-W consistently has one of the best turfs in college football.

And the lawn gork inside me wants to know details. I'm sure it's bermuda but I wonder if it's the latest and greatest or if they're falling back on something tried and true.

Dad and I typically get in the stadium when the gates open and I often pass the time just walking around.  Towards the end of last year I recall going down to field level and noticing many areas in the endzone that appeared to be painted bear ground where the grass was gone, which I presumed had just worn away.  I figured it was normal wear and tear.

They replaced the sod last year and had a LOT of problems with it.  As Vinnie noted there were problem areas, not just in the end zones.

All fields get a bit tore up during warmupd from the repetative footwork during the drills but S-W was being tore up a lot more than normal last year.

IF memory serves, the root structure did not cform correctly last year and there was numerous concerns raised over the summer.
