Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Stoops and OU are not worried about the environment Saturday...

Don't know why OU would be worried about coming to Neyland.......Over the past several years we haven't given anybody a reason to fear or worry about us. We have been pretty much the laughing stock of college football as of late. I've laughed to keep from crying to be honest.
We have a chance this weekend to change that.....It's put up or shut up time IMO.
Last years Florida game was loud until Worley fumbled the game away. :(

I don't think it was about "weight" at what you do at the end of the season. Ohio state got in by TCU basically because of $$$. TCU doesn't have the fanbase Ohio state has, and they won't get the TV ratings or bring the fans to the bowl like Ohio state.
Why would Condoleeza Rice, Archie Manning, or anybody else on the selection committee care about who brings the most fans?

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Poor Mizzou has already lost the SECC game

The referees will be told to call the game loose on Bama (no or very few holding calls like they normally) and to call everything against Missouri. Look for a lot of "The prior play is under review" calls and no call will go against Bama and every call go against Missouri. Bama DBs will be able to hold and assault Missouri receivers without penalty. I predict very few off-sides calls because the SEC officials suddenly cannot see them. Even if Rocky Goode is in the replay booth, do not expect many calls to go against Bama.
By the way, I watched Bama several times this year and Saturday was the only time I remember a holding call on Bama.
That is not just because it is Bama because the SEC officials have called games just like this always to favor the higher ranked team or if they just do not like the other coach. If it is Penn Wagers(?), look for a lot of long explanations that make little sense. There is just too much money and prestige for the SEC office to let Bama lose a close game.
I see a repeat of the Iron Bowl. Close for a half and then Bama goes wild in the 2nd half, with or without help from the zebras.
If I thought a scenario like that were true, I wouldn't be able to watch a college football game. It would be like wrestling. The problem with your theory is, eventually it would get out to the public, and that would result in the biggest scandal in college football history. I seriously doubt Slive is that stupid.

What the ell is that? OK, I Googled it. No ads and no tracking? That can't last. Haven't looked into it yet. But you are correct, it probably won't last if it isn't making money for somebody.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Braves trade Jason Heyward

Thank Wren for throwing big money at BJ Upton, Dan Uggla, and Chris Johnson. When a budget-minded team is on the hook for that much money for three guys who contribute little to nothing ( literally nothing now in Uggla's case), some corners are going to have to be cut. They were wise, IMO, to lock up Tehran, Freeman, Kimbrel, and Simmons last year, but they didn't have enough left over for Heyward. He HAS been a disappointment at the plate. But I can't ever remember coming out on the good end of a trade with St. Louis. Ron Gant and Adam Wainwright still haunt my nightmares. I fully expect Heyward to magically start putting up triple crown type numbers next year. He will probably win triple crown for the Cards. I just don't see it as a huge loss, he was probably gone after next year anyway. If Miller can pitch like he did prior to last year it will be a good deal for the Braves.

To the damned Cardinals. First they let Brian McCann go, now they trade JeyHey. Not a happy Bravo fan right now. He is a 265 hitter that never put up the power numbers that people expected from him. Not a huge loss, but they also didn't get much for him.

“I recall the incident. [James] had abdominal cramps, full-body cramps,” Bell told Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald this week. “I think it was a lot worse than what Coach Saban knew. I wouldn’t say he just stepped over him. Jeno was in pretty bad shape. I don’t think us as players knew how bad it was.” LMAO, Yeah he really shot that one down.
