IV - come on now .... Bama fans are long suffering. I mean, good grief, we gave Mike Shula four years and he didn't beat Auburn once. Gave Bill Curry the same as well, and neither did he beat Auburn. You guys have the Uhaul loaded up for Dooley already after 2 1/2 seasons

Yes, Revolver, I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to re-educate a Vol I don't think anyone short of Phyllis from Mulga is bothered by such internet fodder - but whomever did the gif on this thread did a great job - nearly made me spray Diet Dr. Pepper on my monitor

Trust me - from someone who follows Alabama anything religously - Saban has had his fill of the NFL (Browns, Dolphins) - and he's said ad nauseum that he does not want to coach well into his 70's like Bowden or Paterno. IE - at his age, he doesn't have enough time to turn another program around and enjoy the fruit of that success - and - from where he is at Alabama, every other NCAA job would be a step down - he's built an empire and simply reloads now - he's not leaving that for Texas, or Cleveland, or any other job.

I know Texas has had some rough seasons of late, but do you really think there's a move to push him out? Through 2009, Texas was the most often ranked team in the BCS since its inception. Maybe they would .... but that would be a bad move IMO

LOL - well, I see it more of as a classy salute to those playing to UT - that the band took the time to work on another's fight song is something kinda unique. I thought it was cool anyway ...

On that note - just wanted to say how impressed I've always been with The Pride of the Southland Band - UT's band rocks IMO. My son plays in our high school marching band, and they've been working incredibly hard since camp in July. Our high school band is comprised of 240 kids, which is a relatively large number for a high school band. We have awesome directors and they've put together an intricate show this year. From that standpoint, I can appreciate the performance of UT's band - I'm sure that takes an incredible amount of work to pull that off - always been impressed with the circle drill. Very classy IMO that you guys played our fight song before the game too BTW.

Pirate, Emeril, & BDV - It was great to see you guys again, and Emeril, thanks again for the awesome tailgate! I know you guys were disappointed with the game, but the fellowship was outstanding - as was the brisket. Looking forward to returning the favor in Tuscaloosa next year!

Hey folks - I agree that Kiffin left the place a mess - I really wasn't trying to compare Bama's mess to that of UT. It was more of a political post, given the rhetoric recently about what the President has, or hasn't done in the last four years. I just thought it was funny. Saban took a team still wobbly from probation, and undercoached, and turned it around dramatically. Wish the same could be said of the current economic environment.

LOL! Well, in my opinion then, going 4-9 in 2003, 6-6 in 2004, 10-2 in 2005 only to be followed by going 6-7 the next year in 2006 - WITH four consecutive losses to Auburn thrown in for good measure ..... and the players to whom Shula had given too much latitude (and hence the attitudes Saban inherited) .... is what I'd call inheriting a mess. But that's just me

Yeah, but he's still hobbled. Will make an easy target. Yea, but before that can happen, you've got to get past Barrett Jones 1st team all SEC center, DJ Fluker, the largest human being to ever don a set of pads, Cyrus (Mount) Kouandjio, and Chance Warmack, who rivals Fluker for having the largest backside of any OL in the country. Just sayin

1 - Georgia (besides Alabama, obviously). Through friendships & client relationships with UGA alums, I've always considered them my "second team"
2 - Alabama obviously my #1 team period - but if the question is in regard to my next favorite non SEC school, it would be Nebraska. One of my parent company's principal offices is in Lincoln, and I've visited the area many times before. Great folks, thick football tradition - they take old ambulances and convert them into tailgating RVs up there - pretty clever.
3 - I'd love to attend a Nebraska / Oklahoma game
4 - Cornelius Bennett
5 - Big Bird. Just to spite O'Bama .....

Roger on the footware - negative on the faculty seating. I'm in section MM, somewhere near the altitude where the Red Bull guy jumped from his baloon yesterday.

Its probably not my place to chime in on this thread, but since you're comparing your situation to that of Bama's a few years ago - thought I'd toss a thought in for what its worth. There are only a couple of posters on this board (who know me) that will believe this statement, but its true - my heart goes out to you guys. Seriously - its a hard thing to suffer through seasons like this when you're a die hard fan. It compounds the problem when you don't think you see any light at the end of the tunnel either.
Two good recruiting classes can change everything though. You've got 22 good players. You're just thin on depth, and experience in certain positions. Experience will take care of itself. Recruiting will help with the depth. If Dooley can put together a couple of top 10 classes - to go along with any blue chip red shirts that may come off next year - I don't think you guys are more than a couple of years away from winning the East again. JMT.

Shula inherited a roster thin on depth, however he recruited well (Croyle, Prothro, Ryans, among others). He was never a good game day coach, and he treated the players like grown men, without structure or discipline - as if they were NFL players.
