I didn?t realize that he never left Knoxville after he was fired. He?s currently the coach at Johnson University right down the road. He doesn?t seem bitter towards UT at all, in fact he still follows the team closely. Seems like a really good dude, too bad it didn?t work out for him in Knoxville.

interesting. I lived on the campus of Johnson my first year in Tennessee.  We moved to Tennessee because my father's employer moved, and we moved with them from Indiana.  This was 1982, the country was still in recession and interest rates near a record high, so Johnson let us rent graduate student housing the first year or so in town because my father's employer was in business with them. We sold our house in Indiana for a 320% profit (that was due to 70s inflation...the house was 10K in 1971, sold for 32K in 1982, not sure what the inflation adjusted profit was), interest rates were 22% and my 3 siblings were in college, so rather than spend the house money on a new house my parents decided to spend it on rent and tuition.

Speaking of which, my parents sacrificed so that all their four children could go to college (and one sister dropped out after a single semester, but the other three have done well with their respective degrees).  Man do I appreciate more each day what they did for us as I go through adulthood, particularly now that they are in retirement homes.  I do pay a bit extra out of my own pocket so my mother can have her own room. It's the least I can do.

But yeah, I know Johnson college really well...lived there for a year or two  .  Back then it was Johnson Bible College.
