26  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Son's 1st Game - Seating Info on: August 25, 2014, 07:18:56 EDT
A follow up question.  Years ago, they kept the Natl Championship trophy over at the indoor practice facility.  It was in a nice room with the Manning & Martin wax figures, UT videos and some other cool stuff.  Does that room still exist now they have built the bigger and better facility? If so, what is the name of the room so I can search to see the open times.  The last time I was there, Fulmer was still HC.

Thanks Creek!
28  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Son's 1st Game - Seating Info on: August 18, 2014, 11:18:18 EDT
I am taking my son to his first game in Neyland!  This is definitely a proud Dad day for me and I am excited to show him all things Vol that weekend.  We are going up for the Utah St game.  He is 9 and I think finally old enough to appreciate the experience.  I was able to get a room for one night at the Hilton downtown and glad to be able to park once and not have to deal with traffic after the game.

I got tickets in the 1st row of section DD.  I know the view will be fantastic but being a tall person (6"6") how is the gap between the seats and concrete wall in front of us?  Do we possibly catch a break on a little extra room sitting there?  I do like the fact of not having a person sitting in front of us.  It should help him watching the game. I have not sat in the upper deck often and don't know much about the overhang.

If anyone has any insight on that first row, it is greatly appreciated.
29  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Valhalla's got more birdies today than a Hitchcock movie on: August 11, 2014, 02:46:29 EDT
I think the PGA was entertaining to watch.   I like the birdie fest but I also like to see a course with a little fight in it as well.  Wish golf would make bunkers more of a penalty shot instead of clean lies.  After all, some of these pros are hitting 8 & 9 Irons 175+.  Back to the tourney, I was disappointed in how it ended.  For obvious reasons it felt rushed and I don't want that from a major.  Wished they would have called it once the final group got to 15 tee and finished this morning.

It's the forced question when you arrive from your co-workers:  "Did you have a good vacation?" Once you start to answer, they immediately cut in with their current catastrophic issue (that is somehow your fault and now knee deep in without previous warning) that came up while you were out blatantly abandoning them on your self serving time away.

I watched the show last night and enjoyed it. Looking forward to watching again tonight.   I did not realize some of the events that took place during WWI. If I learned this back in H.S./College, it must have not stuck.  Then again, I have always been more fascinated with WWII and not paid much attention to WWI.  Last night changed that.

Is Rick Byrd considered?
33  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Have we ever made it to the Elite Eight? on: March 24, 2014, 03:38:56 EDT
We made it to the elite 8, beat OSU to get there, Motta got pissed and then the BBQ happened.... Motta got his revenge.  Did I remember that correctly?
34  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Did Verne L. go to ohio state? on: March 21, 2014, 06:16:47 EDT
Vern needs to be stationed at the 16th at Augusta and that is it.  His misses are now becoming noticeable in basketball.  Gary D. has to correct him all the time in football.

I was watching the Virginia/N.Dame game Saturday and the Vols were listed as a "bad" loss in their tourney resume graphic. Losing to UT in Knoxville is now a bad loss. Buzz ball has returned. No excitement whatsoever to watch this team play.

Don't know much about soccer but as a general fan, will watch as long as the US is playing. Once eliminated, will watch golf or baseball.
37  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Sarkisian is the new USCw coach on: December 02, 2013, 10:40:13 EST
The coaching carousel is not over yet.  I still think Franklin's name gets mentioned elsewhere.  I think his name will be popular to mention.  Seems like there is always one each year.  Can't help when trying to close in recruiting.

Sorry man, just seen this Bama/media love fest game before.
39  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: What's left - Offense on: December 02, 2013, 02:21:05 EST
Along with Hurd coming in at RB in this signing class, is there not another that is highly rated as well?  Paulk, is his name I think?  I don't keep up with recruiting enough to know every new kids name but though there was a great 1-2 punch signing.  Would he not factor in as well?  Either way, I hope they have SEC speed.  I miss that in our offense.
40  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Let's see.....Bama went from everyone's shoe in as on: December 02, 2013, 02:13:36 EST
I am happy to see them lose but will believe they are totally out of the NC picture when I see it.  They won the 2012 NC when they were not best in the SEC.
41  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: NFL Red Zone... on: November 25, 2013, 06:14:18 EST
After yesterday being stuck only with the Panthers/Dolphins game early for the Nashville area, I am adding it for next year for sure.  There were other games I would have picked before that one.

I don't mind the uniforms, just upset to give Vandy that much credit to wear them.

Not really. Just want good games.
44  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: AUBURN vs TENNESSEE Game Time on: October 28, 2013, 10:12:35 EDT
The last early game worked out well for us.  Know it is a pain for those trying to attend.
45  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Herbstreit has Bama on upset alert...... on: October 23, 2013, 03:03:41 EDT
If it is his tweet, I did not take that as an upset alert. I read it as a closer game than expected. Based on a 28 pt spread, he has a little room to make that statement.

How bad are Florida fans calling for Muschamp's job? Georgia fans do not surprise me.

Going to be on the Strip Friday night.  As long as Gus's is still making sandwiches, I will be a happy guy.
48  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Cut weighs in on Arian Foster on: September 25, 2013, 07:51:34 EDT
I agree with everything Cut had to say.  I went to school on Pell Grant and also student loans.  I wonder when these athletes tour the new modern football facilities, actually how they money came about to afford them these luxuries that only a select few get to enjoy.  Pay it forward and enjoy your time in college for free.  The envy of the rest of us that have to pay and pay for years after graduating.  If they move to pay the athletes, then the universities should move to not award full scholarships and they have to pay something from their college "earnings" to attend.
49  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: This is an unmitigated disaster on: September 22, 2013, 12:20:55 EDT
I am just tired of all of it. The coaching changes, the blundering teams, the reality sitting in the back of your mind that the game will be bad, the highs right now are just until you go up against a higher ranked team. This had to be the toughest stretch I have ever endured as a fan. And go top it all off you have to listen to those smug, know it all A-holes calling the games to constantly point it all out.
50  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Butch has indeed reopened the QB competition on: September 16, 2013, 08:02:26 EDT
How does a wide open QB race with 4 QB's hurt this weeks game prep?  I would think a starter, potentially being a freshman and coming off the bench would need more than a quarter of the reps in practice before going to the Swamp.  Hopefully I am wrong and we are able to get the best QB on the field.
