Title: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 05:11:44 EDT I'll be traveling the entire game so, umm, here's to an injury-free contest.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 05:16:51 EDT Apparently I can't do rudimentary time zone math. Guess I get to follow the first quarter.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: PirateVOL on September 18, 2021, 05:19:31 EDT As expected, 5 and 15 getting the warmup reps
Milton NOT dressed Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 05:52:33 EDT Not dressed? Smart move. Don't let a guy sneak himself into the game; though in Milton's case that would be tough.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 05:54:06 EDT Aaand guess we are leaving now so no game tracking until about 3:30. GBO!

Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: volsboy on September 18, 2021, 06:02:21 EDT Did you all happen to catch College Gameday? They are at Penn State today for their game with Auburn. One of the signs in the crowd said We Want Bama, Not Their Little Brother. Thought it was quite funny. But does Penn State really want to poke the Elephant. They beat Wisconsin so I guess they think they are playoff bound.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 06:06:57 EDT Charles, who blocked the punt last week is a game Captain Good move. Very impressed by his effort. Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 06:19:01 EDT Do we look great and/or terrible yet?
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 06:21:11 EDT Glad to see Payton get a TD. His block for Hooker's first (?) score against Bowling Green was terrific.

Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: Tnphil on September 18, 2021, 08:22:44 EDT Something fishy with Bailey in a game like this....If he doesn't get in this game except to hand off the last 2 minutes something is really up.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: volsboy on September 18, 2021, 08:37:09 EDT Your concern for bamas national brand is touching BP. Nope just trying to be funny. I failed.Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: PirateVOL on September 18, 2021, 08:48:00 EDT Bailey gets his shot
A bit mercice 2nd pass he stared down the receiver The long pass was pretty good (on the off sides) Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 08:49:55 EDT Just landed and saw the score. It seems acceptable.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 08:54:24 EDT Surprised Evans had 15 touches AND such a low YPC.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: PirateVOL on September 18, 2021, 08:57:35 EDT Bailey with field position
Turn him lose BRW he got a nice ovation when he came on the field and the players were pumping him up as well Title: Bailey need a little more pop on those outside throws Post by: Evol Knievol on September 18, 2021, 09:05:15 EDT Too bad he doesn’t get to play with all the starters.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: PirateVOL on September 18, 2021, 09:07:00 EDT Dancing deer with the TD

Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: murfvol on September 18, 2021, 09:13:54 EDT I'll take it. Any day the backup kicker gets reps for fun is good.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: BanditVol on September 18, 2021, 09:34:30 EDT I only saw about a quarter, had stuff to do today. Normally I just watch the rest off the DVR, but had no way to record this one.
What little I saw there were some sloppy plays...muffed handoff from Hooker to Evans, low snap, even a long pass given up near the end of the game. It went about as expected but those sloppy plays show we still need to clean it up a bit. For now it looks like Hooker will get us through this season while Milton and Bailey compete for the future, but it's early. The Florida game may change all that. But if it plays out that way for the whole season, at this moment in time I would be okay with it just going by what I've seen so far. Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: volsboy on September 18, 2021, 09:42:49 EDT These cupcake games suck. They don't really tell you what your team has and gets folks hurt in a throwaway game.
Title: Re: Game Thread: Tenn Tech Post by: Coupe De VOL on September 18, 2021, 09:59:06 EDT These cupcake games are awesome. They are a great way to get better practice reps in and the best way to evaluate personnel. It's the best way for this kind of team (thin on talent and confidence) to get ready for the big boys. Pitt was a decent test and they fit somewhere in the middle/lower middle of our conference.
Title: Re: Bailey need a little more pop on those outside throws Post by: HerbTarlekVol on September 18, 2021, 10:58:51 EDT Too bad he doesn’t get to play with all the starters. But the guys he was playing with are still better than what TTU put out there, and Bailey still showed why he isn't going to play in this offensive scheme. He just doesn't move well enough, and that's why he is #3. The fact that he didn't get in a game like this until there was less than a minute to go in the third quarter says that the coaches have no plans for him to play a meaningful snap at UT unless it's in a dire emergency. No slight against the kid, but if he wants to play he really needs to start looking for a new home. But he did throw some good passes. Too bad we can't trade him in this brave new world of CFB. |
