Butch in his usual Monday presser: "Whoever has the best week of practice will play." That's a major departure from his previous comments. Very interesting. We may see some R-Ferg this week.

I think this is evidence that Butch knows his approach to Worley-- build the confidence, hope the play follows suit-- simply didn't pan out and likely won't in the future. I think he believed if Worley knew he was the guy and had the full confidence of the coaches, he'd make plays at game time. It didn't happen, so it's time for plan B.

Butch specifically mentioned the need for a QB who can run in this offense, and said "That's why you'll see the competition with Dobbs and Ferguson this week."

How does a wide open QB race with 4 QB's hurt this weeks game prep? I would think a starter, potentially being a freshman and coming off the bench would need more than a quarter of the reps in practice before going to the Swamp. Hopefully I am wrong and we are able to get the best QB on the field.

It sounds like he is going to spread some reps around that Worley had been getting, at least early in the week. I think Clocky is spot on below.

In the past we have waited till FL kicked our a$$es to make changes. This may be good - let FL guess at who is starting, and then announce the starter at gametime.

I suspect Butch already knows who is starting at UF. I would be surprised if they did not get all the practice snaps on wed and thurs at least.

It was reported that Ferguson stayed after practice to throw to the 1s late last week. I suspect Oregon was Worley's last chance to keep the battle from reopening, and that Butch was prepping for that potential outcome already. It could get exciting the next two weeks, everybody. Remember how fun it can be to watch a young QB grow up on the field? Pretty exciting. Of course, I'm just looking for better play and some damn wins no matter who wins the job.

What year was it Casey Clausen emerged? Seems like AJ Suggs and Joey Matthews hacked away at it just like Worley's doing now and midway or even towards the end of that year Fulmer put Casey in and it was awesome. He was fearless and confident. He made mistakes, but I'll take a youngster who guns it and makes mistakes over what we have now anyday.

I would be surprised if a true frosh starts vs. UF, though you never know. Peterman might start, or it might be that Jones decides to start Worley based on this week of practice, but he has a very short leash. Either way, I like that Butch is putting some pressure on.

2000. His first start was against Alabama. We won that game and the next five, including a road win over a ranked South Carolina team. He wasn't perfect, as the offense didn't score a whole lot in his first three games (20, 17, and 19 against Bammer, SC, Memphis). We unloaded on Arkansas, Kentucky, and Vandy after that and then lost the bowl game to K-State.
