The similarities are many.  When Cobb's and Webb's careers ended early, an unheralded back stepped right in and lit it up.  Same story for Kelly.  Their styles are pretty similar, too.  Except TT was a senior when he finally got his chance.  We get two more seasons of Kelly after this year.

The energy he brings is levels beyond what Hurd was doing this year.  Of course, his style is also more suited to our offense, but Hurd looked much better last year.

Not sure what went wrong there, but thank goodness the team seems to have moved on.

IMO...he saw all the injuries...saw Sutton and JRM come back and get injured and he was protecting his future. JMO.

Probably not an unreasonable guess.   But by protecting his future, he likely dropped his NFL stock, because he has rarely looked good this year.

No.  Kelly is much bigger than was Tony Thompson.  Thompson was listed on the 1990 roster at 5'7 and 171.  Kelly is listed on the roster now as being 5'9 and 212.

Apples and oranges in terms of comparison.  And Kelly was a much more highly sought after prospect out of high school than was Thompson.

Tony Thompson was fantastic. He and Kelly have some similarities, and whatever they share is a good thing.
