UF paid him @250K. He went from around 1.7 million/yr to @250K

Maybe we should give him a call

Tim Brewster also went from Minnesota HC to Mississippi State as a WR coach. Maybe we should call him as well. Also what about Greg Knox, Shane Beamer, and Tony Ball. All would be reaches except for maybe Knox, but if we have cash to apply to this position, maybe they are open to change environments.

I also heard Latrell Scott's name thrown around. He had a DUI in Virginia so I doubt this will play well for his return.

No on Scott. I hope.

I have also heard Dameyune Craig's name thrown around. I think CBJ wants a black guy for this position.

I would hope he wants the "best guy" regardless of race....

Knox is at Miss State as a RB coach but has coached WR's and has worked with Thigpen at Auburn. Beamer is a great recruiter. The question is, would he leave his dad? VaTech could have coaching shake-ups and he could be in line for OC. Ball is from Chattanooga and currently on the UGA staff. Would cash help him to go north to give us another "Georgia recruiter"?

I'm sure he does but superficial things like race have an effect on recruiting whether you like it or not. It affects what we do at my job . . . if we don't have a reasonably "colorful" faculty composition, there will be students who decline to come (or stay) because there's a subconscious comfort that comes from being around people like you and having mentors that you perceive as having gone through the same struggles as you.

So in the end I think Jones wants the best staff available but having several black assistants makes it a better staff than it would be otherwise.
