Currie worked for Hamilton and got his training and experience from Hamilton. Currie was the lead on firing and finding a replacement for Fulmer at the direction of Hamilton. When you learn at the feet of a simpleton, what can people expect? The athletic department is controlled by Haslam dollars donated to the university. Big money buys big influence, but no guarantees that you are smart.
Currie has lot the confidence of a lot of the fan base. Currie may survive because the university administration is cared of angering Big Jim and losing money for a new academic building. But Currie had weeks to look at and vet coaches and he picked Butch 2.0 with less personality. When the politicians that actually fund the school start weighing in on hires, the school administration should worry because they have the political pull to fire the Trustees and appoint new ones that can fire or at least make their lives miserable. As soon as a politician smells any issue they can exploit, they will. This is all on Chancellor Davenport now because she hired Currie.
^Good post.

I'd take Mullen in a second over some mentioned.....But as said above, win 8 at Miss State and they love you. Win 8 at UT and FL you get fired. He makes 4.7 million at MSU and IMO it will have to be upped a lot for him to leave.

Kiffin had gotten a HC job and Saban didn't want the distraction with Kiffin trying to work 2 jobs. In hindsight I'd bet Saban wished he hadn't sent Kiffin down the road before the NC game.

We imploded in there in 2001 and our program has never recovered. I told 6 folks I was with that night walking out that loss would be our downfall as we'd known it for several years. I was pi$$ed when I said it and meant it....just didn't know it would be the truth.

He should fire Scott tonight. Patchwork OL down to 4 scholarship O linemen but lets run it between the tackles all night. This team doesn't need a bowl game it needs to be in the weight room and some need to git. Need to gitshirt some offensive linemen and go beg...borrow or steal some JUCO's or just get the ones Wisconsin wanted but didn't have room for. The next coach has his work cut out for him.

KMac has not lived up to his hype....Tuttle has stayed injured. Our DL has played better and you can't judge on making tackles....Linebackers are called LINE-BACKERS for a reason and we have been poor there. 53 couldn't start for many DII programs. Something more than he's just able to make defensive calls as to why he's been in there way too much.

The main, consistent issue with run defense has been the 2nd level, primarily #53. In general, our LB play has been beyond bad, especially in run defense. We aren't helped by the fact that one of our safeties is far too slow for SEC level play. He plays well, just a step too slow,
The interior play actually has improved with the returning to form by Tuttle.
I will be more interested in substitution patterns and see if FCBJ was responsible for the lack of PT for the kids.
Pirate speaks the truth. When you don't have linebackers filling gaps it makes your DL look worse than it is. Never thought I'd see the day UT would be as bad at the linebacker position than we've been lately. The one's that are SEC level stay hurt most of the time. We are in much need at the corner position too. Lacking at the DE positions too.

You can go back to 2012 and read the Gruden rumors and they are dang near the same as you're reading now. Some 'Insiders' names might have changes but the content is pretty much the same.
