If they both win their first round games, they will meet for the second time in about 2 weeks. For teams not in the same conference, how weird is that?

We've also played tiger high and Gonzaga twice in recent years.  It seems to happen to US pretty frequently, but you never hear about it happening to other teams.

So a Martin coached team will be able to choke again.  The more I watch his teams play, the less I think of the post season.  How a coach can squander and not develop ANY offense is beyond me. UT needs to go hire a real coach not a lower major wanna-be.  Martin has been over his head trying to coach Big 10 ball with street ball talent.

Nice man. Mediocre coach. UT is NIT-bound this year also.

Here's a weird stat, and I say it's weird because overall I would agree with your take on Cuonzo and offensive basketball:

UT is 27th in the country in the offensive stat that matters-- points per possession, adjusted for schedule strength. The Vols are scoring 1.22 points per possession. That tells you something about how strong the offense has been the last three games since the offense was so bad against Xavier.

I don't know if that will hold up or not, but right now the offense has a lot of momentum and the defense is what's struggling.

Clockwork, look at the level of competition to judge the strength. When a Martin coached team plays a team with a good defense and players that have breath in their bodies, they struggle. When your offense is Come Down, pass the ball, and make a playground move to score, generally you lose.

Like I said, histoically I have agreed with you, but the stat I mentioned is schedule-adjusted.

And of course it is very early. I think the offensive talent on this team is pretty good though, so that "playground" game may actually be our best bet to put points up.
