Really? So, why is it that now fans can get tickets without being forced to make a donation? Do you honestly believe that revenues are anywhere near where they have been in the past, CO?
Two things...no business ever gives back a tax break to consumers. They will always pocket it. That's capitalism, baby! And two...sadly, the average fan probably doesn't even know there is a tax, and even if they do will likely not notice if and when it's lifted.

Third and 35 with the game on the line and we give up a 41 yard pass by a quarterback who can't throw. How you guys lost to us is mystifying.
Easy....LSU has an offensive line. Bammer and LSU both burned you guys deep, and we have the WR talent to do that. But not the time....

Likely they don't sniff a win against those opponents with a different coach.
There is no doubt he profited from the rest of the East being down, and also Clay Mathews was pretty much 80% of his offense, but he is a good coach.
But your point may be valid in that he is more of an above average to good coach than one that can take PSU to "then next level". But make no mistake, he is better than most.

I don't think Hart will make Hammy's mistake, at least I hope not. Yes, Hammy did many things that may have helped the bottom line short term, but were really stupid in the long run. Making the students pay for tickets in spite of already paying an activities fee might have brought in ~ $1M a year, but it was a horrible PR disaster. I thought it was incredibly asinine, for the amount that it brought it. Basically he gave the university a black eye and probably alienated almost all, if not all, the students just to enhance revenue ~1%. All while he let the product on the field decline. Penny wise, pound foolish... And while we did decline from 2001 on, I think the fanbase also grew accustomed to success. 10-3 just wasn't getting it anymore, while in the early 90s it would have been considered a good if not great year.

Uh, Bandit - the Sun Belt is a D1-A conference - same NCAA level as the SEC.
UTC plays in the Southern Conference, a D1-AA level league.
And one of those All SoCon DL guys didn't play against UT because he was injured.
Yeah yeah yeah. I know the are FCS...just didn't want to bother looking up whatever shizzle conference they are in. The thing is, FCS players go on to the NFL all the time. One of their DL may well play on Sundays. That certainly doesn't excuse allowing 6 sacks! But my point is that of all the FCS schools in the country, we faced one that has a really good DL, which makes me feel a bit better, though not by much. One of their DL players was from Bearden and so I assume you are somewhat familiar with him.

I liked what was said last week on the radio....................Saban kicked a very good OC out and hired a OC that everybody else had kicked out. He is either even more arrogant than even I thought possible or Kiffin is his scapegoat. Likely both...Satan is the type to cover all the angles.

Very nice stats Clock O, and indicative of what I was thinking of this offense.
We may well hold Ole Piss below 30...

ESPN stated this afternoon that it was from August. And I know that I will catch all kinds of shizzle for this, but UTC did at least have a couple all-conference DL on their squad. Best DL in the Sun Belt. (ducks)

Prospects have to go to juco for several reasons, most of them not good ones. and more times that not because of academics.
Honestly, in this day and time if a prospect can't get an 18 on the ACT and have a 2.2 in the core classes, then they don't belong at a major university in the first place.
For every CP that comes out of juco, there are a dozen who either are busts or just plain wasted schollys.
Yeah but I can't help thinking of Cordarelle....

Yes. Because it's Ole Miss. Point being I never thought I would see the day that there was a 17 point difference in the two programs.
Yeah. True story....end of August I was on a business trip and had dinner with two gentlemen who are MSU grads. They both were excited about their prospects. One said they would compete for the West and the other flat out said they would win it and could win the NC. Even the other MSU fan didn't believe him, he was more like "we will be good, but....". I thought he was smoking something, but he is looking pretty much like a prophet at the moment.

Right now, I agree they'll probably go 7-4. But as we've seen before (including with this very UF team last year) when things start to go bad, sometimes a team will just pack it in. When that happens, they're capable of losing to anybody.
Agree. It's a win win situation though. Either Muschump is totally humiliated and run out of town on a rail, or he just barely hangs on and continues to suxes. Either of those is fine with me.

Fantastic. BDV, don't sweat it. I expect Florida to beat Vandy and Mizzou with or without Harris, and also EKU. They should be favored against the OBC, and with Harris they might just pull it off. But they are gonna get dawg-whipped by uga and annihilated by FSU. They are currently 3-2, so that's enough to get them to a bowl, with or without Harris. The only game I think he makes a difference in is vs. the OBC, which is the difference between 7-4 and 6-5. That difference likely is just enough to save Muschump's job, so it's a good thing. Heck, I might donate a few bucks to Huntington myself....err, naw that's too sleazy. But karma....

Sports / VTTW Message Board / So we have four OL from last year on NFL rosters
|
on: October 12, 2014, 07:31:46 EDT
|
Ja'won James was drafted first round and is starting for Miami Zach Fulton was drafted sixth round and is starting for KC James Stone was undrafted but is a third stringer for Atlanta Antonio Richardson was undrafted but is on IR for Minnesota http://www.wbir.com/story/sports/college/vols/football/2014/08/30/which-former-vols-made-nfl-rosters/14875781/In 2010, when they were all frosh (except Antonio who came a year later) we gave up 41 sacks and only averaged 109 yards per game. That's 3.4 sacks per game. We are allowing 3.8 per game this year, which is worse, but not by a huge amount. My point is that even though we had future NFL talent on the line in 2010, they struggled mightily. If we can get a couple good OL in this spring to add depth and maybe even start at some point, and the current OL works hard, at some point next season they will begin to jell, hopefully just as whatever QB we are playing starts to "get it". Meanwhile I expect Butch will be bringing in his third consecutive top 5 class, and 2016 is going to look very bright.
