The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. What a great show. A Beatnik (Bob Denver as Maynard G, Krebs) on TV before most of America (especially rural Tennessee) heard of beatniks. I ran into and became friends with several beatniks back in early and mid 1960s while living in Sale Creek as a teenager. Later it would have helped me become a hippie, but I liked working and making money too much. However, they may have helped in my rebellious attitude and failure to respect most authority figures. But then again, that ornery streak runs in my family so I cannot claim learned behavior.
