Or at least lose.  Here's why...they haven't played ANYONE yet.  Yes, they were close against UF and beat USC jr in Colombia.  Those are big improvements over "the usual Kentucky".  But look at their other opponents...UT Martin, UL Monroe (122nd in offense!), Vandy (the old lousy Vandy), and Ohio (117th in offense!). 

So there is an article on the UK ESPN team page that says "Kentucky bringing strong defense to LSU".  Yeah right! A D2 school, two teams in the bottom 10 of the NCAA in offense, Florida and Vandy!

The only decent offense they have faced is South Carolina, who hung 38 on them. 

Again, the win at USC is very good by usual UK standards, even though Carolina suxes this season, but I really think LSU is the toughest team they have faced this year and might really embarrass them.

I am less worried about UK than I was....had no idea their schedule was that weak so far.

Then at the end of the season, we are 4-2 against East opponents with close losses to uga and UF.  And hopefully, we don't totally embarrass ourselves tonight and next week we might even pull a huge shocker. 

But okay, assume we drop the two West games.  The above scenario is definite progress, right?  It would represent a big step forward for the program and build momentum for next season.  It would certainly be better than another 5-7 season.

I think it's very possible that it could go that way.  I didn't think that in the summer, but IMO we are a bit ahead of where I thought we would be, particularly on defense.

A 45-0 halftime score between 2 ranked teams?  Yeah, I'm surprised.

Uga is killing Arky and Chubb is running wild.  Shows the advantage of a veteran offensive line...just plug another stud back in like we did with Henry in 98.

Although I loathe uga, I am glad they are winning.  I am tired of hearing how great the West is.

Uga should cruise to the East title and might even have a shot in the SECC. 

Technically Florida IS still in the race though. 

Texas A&M is a pretty lousy team, but that's still pretty impressive.

But as commentators have noted, they look much better at home this year than on the road.   

I'm not even remotely concerned that they do something like that to us.

And it predicts 28-13 Ole Miss, which is actually closer than I thought.  That means with a +3 or even +2 margin in turnovers we can take them.  We are big dogs, but "that's why they play the game".  I hope our D holds up and that we show progress on offense.

At his age, I doubt that he would've taken a job anywhere other than KSU.  You don't just uproot and move halfway across the country at age 70, no matter how much money is at stake.

People do move at that age though. I knew a couple in West Lafayette that moved in their 70s to be near their son.  They did mention it was tough, but it can be done.

Doesn't Bill Snyder have to be considered one of the greatest coaches of our time?  I mean, he's doing what he's doing at KANSAS STATE.  They sucked for a century before he got there, they were routinely in NC contention in his first tenure, they sucked after he left, and now they're good again (and getting better every season) in his second go-around, at an age when most coaches have been retired for a decade or more.  And it's not like he's recruiting the lights out, either.  You really can't at a place like that (without getting in trouble with the NCAA).  Just imagine what he could do with some 5* talent at his disposal.

I have always thought so.  He was very briefly mentioned as a candidate at UT...I think when Lame left, but everyone was like "he's too old".  What the hell, he would do well anywhere I think.

I don't see where he said "don't criticize them".  I did see where he said it takes time to develop an OL, which is simply the truth.

Bandit, yes, but it was 'Jordan' Mathews at Vandy. Wouldn't have even mentioned that but he is one great player from the Huntsville area we missed on. Another from Huntsville who was second team All-SEC last season, and probably first team this year, is Trey Flowers the great DL from Arkansas. Neither Bama nor Auburn offered either-big mistake by both.

Yeah, that was quite a miss on Matthews...I would bet UT didn't recruit him either.  Perhaps the biggest miss of all time from the Huntsville area is Phillip Rivers of Athens.  I don't think a single SEC team offered him, or if any did it was Vandy or Kentucky.

It's just too bad they didn't trade him to Cleveland or Cincy.  Then Perssy could pop into Columbus on Saturday, share some loser pizza, and reminisce about his OG days at ole Floridy.

There is no doubt he profited from the rest of the East being down, and also Clay Mathews was pretty much 80% of his offense, but he is a good coach.

But your point may be valid in that he is more of an above average to good coach than one that can take PSU to "then next level".  But make no mistake, he is better than most.

Yes, Hammy did many things that may have helped the bottom line short term, but were really stupid in the long run.

Making the students pay for tickets in spite of already paying an activities fee might have brought in ~ $1M a year, but it was a horrible PR disaster.  I thought it was incredibly asinine, for the amount that it brought it.

Basically he gave the university a black eye and probably alienated almost all, if not all, the students just to enhance revenue ~1%.  All while he let the product on the field decline.

And while we did decline from 2001 on, I think the fanbase also grew accustomed to success.  10-3 just wasn't getting it anymore, while in the early 90s it would have been considered a good if not great year.

Uh, Bandit - the Sun Belt is a D1-A conference - same NCAA level as the SEC.

UTC plays in the Southern Conference, a D1-AA level league. 

And one of those All SoCon DL guys didn't play against UT because he was injured. 

Yeah yeah yeah.  I know the are FCS...just didn't want to bother looking up whatever shizzle conference they are in.  The thing is, FCS players go on to the NFL all the time.  One of their DL may well play on Sundays.

That certainly doesn't excuse allowing 6 sacks!  But my point is that of all the FCS schools in the country, we faced one that has a really good DL, which makes me feel a bit better, though not by much.

One of their DL players was from Bearden and so I assume you are somewhat familiar with him.
