Had absolutely no doubt that Wake Forest would be in our bracket. NCAA has a way of doing that, huh?

They?ll probably see to it that Wake advances out of that region, too. Whether they earn it or not.

A lot their bats that raked last year weren?t so great this year. If not for the outstanding pitching, they?re probably no better than a .500 team.

Sucks, because in a year when OU looks slightly more beatable than usual, the window is cracked open for somebody. I suspect OU will go back to their superhuman selves next year. 

The Vols are officially a region host. Try to contain your shock.

We?re almost certainly the #1 seed, so we?ll be opposite the 16- likely ECU or Arizona.  The question is who will be the 2 seed in that region. If it?s not MSU or Wake, I?ll be surprised.

We considered it a successful season just to make the field for this tournament. But WIN it? That was crazy talk.

And if we?re being honest, they did it with their C+ game. Not just today- all week long.

who can get us an out or 3 over the next few weeks. I?ve always thought this team was an arm or two short to win it all, but if we can count on guys like Loy and Phillips that may not be the case.

Unfortunately it doesn?t look like AJ Russell is ready for prime time. If we get up big on someone in the regional next weekend maybe they can keep getting him some work. But probably not beyond that. The farther you go, the less important bullpen depth becomes.

Because now we?re clearly conceding another game to little brother. Today?s lineup features Antigua at SS, Bargo at 3B, and Peebles at C, with Amick at DH. Zander is starting on the hill, but after him it will be a parade of midweek guys.

I?m fine with throwing a game and getting some rest, I just wish it didn?t have to be to the west end boiz.

Last season, there were only two players in D1 hoops who hit 90 3?s and had 20 dunks. Dalton Knecht was one. The other? Chaz Lanier.

I?d be okay with another bullpen game tonight. I don?t care if we lose to MSU. Now if it had been Vandy, I?d ride QB1 for as long as it takes. We owed them a game for doing us a solid last weekend, but that?ll be quite enough. They beat us again, they might start to get some ideas and forget their place.

I didn?t realize that he never left Knoxville after he was fired. He?s currently the coach at Johnson University right down the road. He doesn?t seem bitter towards UT at all, in fact he still follows the team closely. Seems like a really good dude, too bad it didn?t work out for him in Knoxville.

I firmly believe that Tony Vitello is the best coach in America. He just lacks that one thing on his resume, but it seems like it?s just a matter of time now- and maybe sooner than later. We?ve made it to Omaha before when we had one or two generational talents on the roster, but those were always the exception rather than the norm. Tony has made it routine, with all different casts of characters. He?s had to replace his entire weekend rotation.  He?s had to replace his entire everyday eight. Last year, he had to overcome a toxic locker room in-season. The adversity keeps coming, but he always gets the job done.

AJ Russell will get a start if he?s able, and they?re still looking for an answer at DH. The nuclear option is inserting Antigua at SS, moving Curley to 3B, and Amick to DH. Don?t know if he?d do that, but it just might work if Amick is okay with it.

Anyway, all that is to say that no one should panic if we go out early in Hoover. That?s not the tourney that matters.

It still feels like we?re at least one arm short, maybe two. Getting Russell back would be huge. But i?m beginning to think that may not happen this year.
