I fully expect to lose this game. If it comes down to best talent wins, we stand a chance. I don't figure we'll be put in that position.

We're gonna win out
The only way this team loses to any remaining team on the schedule is if they quit.
They didn't quit today, in spite of widespread predictions to the contrary
They won't quit rest of the season either.
We will win out.

We should but we dont play any real teams either. It is just another season of not beating anyone of significance. I wouldnt bet the farm on winning out either.

Yeah, it's been a frustrating couple of years, I know. I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but I think it's pretty likely. This team has enough to do it. Whatever else you might think of this season, last year was far worse. I went to the Arkanasas game last year and the USCe game this year. 42-7 joke vs. 38-35 exciting game where we came up short. NIGHT AND DAY! Believe it or not, we're getting closer. And we just need to hope that continues no matter who the coach is.

The team is better but an adequate coach(es) would have us at one loss min.

I wish I shared your confidence. We shoulda won out last year, too. But our QB decided that he wasn't interested in a lower-tier bowl game and phoned it in against Kentucky. Well as he played yesterday, I have yet to see evidence that our QB has changed his mindset since last year.

the differences in Bray from last week to yesterday were startling. Last week he was tentative, poor footwork and was high a lot. Yesterday he was decisive, threw well for the most part, had better footwork and moved around well. How healthy was his left knee last week?

I would almost bet the farm that UT loses at least one more game. We are virtually level with Mizzou, UK, and VU. And Troy is a matchup nightmare.

I have heard the reports of "We might not even go to that good of a bowl game", but I have no idea (a), if they were true, or (b) if Bray or David-Ricky was the responsible party (or even multiple players or someone else). Do you have specific information that BRAY actually said this? I'm not being sarcastic...serious question. Because if he did, then that's really bad of him. But if not.... Further...I don't remember the UK game that well, but from what I do recall of it, play-calling and/or decision-making by Bray played a huge role. As we all know, one more TD wins it. So I was in Ktown at my folks for TDay, and as I was watching it on their Low-Def 24 inch TV, I noticed that Bray was CONSTANTLY throwing 10-15 yards down field, and almost always to David-Ricky. I think that was why we lost. It was either unimaginative play-calling (ie, thinking we could beat them with just Bray and DR) or bad decision-making by Bray. I think it was both. On at least some plays, there didn't seem to be any short outlet passes even available, when it was obvious UK was covering all the long routes. On other plays, it seemed the shorter routes were open and Bray just ignored them. Then too, we seemed to completely ignore the run game, and Tauren Poole was one of the all too few players that was motivated for sure.

Continuing this post due to editor issues... Having said all that, I also recall Tauren Poole strongly hinting that younger players dialed it in: http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2011/nov/29/tauren-poole-stands-by-comments-reflects-on/"Guys kind of shut it down," Poole said. "All the seniors, we cared. We cared more than a lot of those guys out there. And that's expected, but we weren't getting it back. Those guys have next year to look forward to. We don't. My career is over at UT."
Throughout the game, Poole said he, linebacker Austin Johnson and defensive tackle Malik Jackson all tried to rally their fellow teammates with motivational words of encouragement.
Some players, Poole said, simply couldn't be reached.
"Guys are only going to listen to certain people and listen to certain things," Poole said. "You can't control what people listen to. All you can control is what you say and how you encourage people. We tried to do that. It just didn't happen."He doesn't call out Bray by name, and seems to imply that it was a large number of players. Of course, Bray is the QB, and supposed to be a leader, so certainly he could have stepped up. I don't really know what happened, but I would guess that Bray was more than likely part of the problem and not the solution.

Again continuing due to limits on post size...
I accept that it's likely Bray was part of the problem in the Kentucky game, even though it was only his second game back from injury.
So given that I accept that he was most likely part of the problem, that doesn't mean he has to stay a problem forever.
IMO he's still one of the better QBs we have had at UT since Peyton or maybe Tee. The question right now should be, not, "what did he do last year", but "what is he going to do the rest of the way?" To not give him a chance to improve is not to allow that it can ever happen to anyone.
Did anyone think Crompton would have the year he had in 2009? Does anyone think anything Bray has ever done is remotely like the turds Crompton laid on the field in 2008?
If Bray can improve even half of what Crompton did from one year to the next, he could be amazingly good. Maybe the best we have had since Peyton.
So I hope he doesn't dial it in the rest of the season and continues to improve both his on the field performance and his attitude.
This is true independent of whether we have a new coach or not. Because whether we do or not, there is a good chance Bray is back next year. I'd rather he play well...
